Actress Criticized for Calling Trump Rally Shooting 'Staged

Amanda Seales faces backlash for claiming the attack was a setup.

Actress Amanda Seales is facing intense criticism after alleging that the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump during a campaign rally on Saturday was “staged.” Seales, 43, shared her controversial theory in a video posted on X.

“That was more staged than a Tyler Perry production of Madea Runs for President,” Seales claimed in the clip. “I lived in Harlem long enough to know gunshots do not sound like making popcorn on the stove,” she added, mocking the sounds of gunfire.

Seales elaborated, “Pop, pop, pop. Where’d the blood come from? So in theater, in movies, they have what’s called blood pellets. People used them at Halloween. It’s basically a pellet of fake blood that’s in your mouth and when you crush it blood comes out.”

She went further, stating, “To be frank, small hands Trump would not respond by raising his fist in the air triumphantly were an actual attempt made on his life. This was, I believe, done to try to show his strength counter to Biden’s fragility.”

Seales concluded her video by quoting the 1990 romantic drama “Ghost” starring Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore, saying, “My God. Molly, you in danger girl.”

Key Points:

  • Controversial Claims: Amanda Seales alleges the Trump assassination attempt was staged, sparking widespread backlash.

  • Public Outrage: Seales' remarks are criticized for being insensitive and disrespectful to the victims.

  • Reactions: Social media users and public figures condemn Seales' conspiracy theory.

The backlash was swift and severe. One social media user wrote, “She has no empathy, no compassion, nothing. A person DIED, 2 are fighting for their lives @amandaseales but it was ‘staged.’” Another commented, “An innocent man who attended the rally, to support his candidate is dead you unbelievable, idiotic piece of human garbage.” A third echoed, “What about the dead people? Was that fake too?”

Sky News Australia host James Macpherson also criticized Seales, saying, “These people are so consumed with hate that they’ve lost all contact with reality, haven’t they?” Journalist Brad Polumbo agreed, calling Seales' suggestion a “grotesque and irresponsible conspiracy theory with no basis in reality.”

The man killed at the rally was identified as 50-year-old Pennsylvania firefighter Corey Comperatore, who died protecting his family from the bullets. Governor Josh Shapiro praised Comperatore as “a hero” during a press conference, highlighting his bravery during the attack.

In addition to Comperatore's tragic death, two other attendees were critically injured, and Trump himself was grazed by a bullet on his right ear. The Secret Service has confirmed that the shooter, identified as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, was neutralized at the scene.
