Governor Whitmer Advocates for Including Aid to Undocumented Immigrants in Harris’ Agenda

Michigan Governor backs radical policies as part of a broader immigration strategy.

Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer made headlines over the weekend with her enthusiastic endorsement of policies that would provide free handouts to illegal aliens, suggesting that such measures should be a cornerstone of Vice President Kamala Harris’s agenda if she becomes president. Whitmer’s comments came during an interview on NBC’s “Meet The Press,” where she was asked about the extreme policies already implemented by Harris’s running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz.

Walz has turned Minnesota into a magnet for illegal immigrants by offering benefits that include driver’s licenses, free tuition at public universities, and enrollment in the state’s free healthcare program—all without regard for legal status. When asked if she would like to see Harris adopt similar policies, Whitmer didn’t hesitate to praise Walz’s approach.

  • Whitmer’s Endorsement: Whitmer lauded the policies as reflective of the “spirit” of generosity and inclusion that should guide Harris’s vision for the country. “He’s a Midwesterner just like me,” she said of Walz, before adding that the policies he’s championed “resonate with Americans in all states.” Whitmer’s comments suggest that she sees no issue with incentivizing illegal immigration through taxpayer-funded benefits.

  • A 'Beacon' for Illegals: Whitmer further emphasized that such policies help make the U.S. a “beacon” for people around the world—a beacon that draws illegal immigrants to states like Minnesota. Her remarks signal a continued commitment by leading Democrats to push for more lenient immigration policies that could burden American taxpayers and strain public services.

  • Border Security Admission: Perhaps most startling was Whitmer’s admission that the border is currently not secure under the Biden-Harris administration. Despite this, she still advocated for providing IDs and other benefits to those who enter the country illegally, arguing that it’s important to ensure they have access to such resources once they’re here.

Whitmer’s comments are likely to stir further debate as the 2024 election approaches. With voters increasingly concerned about border security and the economic impact of illegal immigration, her endorsement of these radical policies may become a flashpoint in the campaign.

As the Democrats continue to grapple with the immigration issue, Whitmer’s vision offers a clear glimpse of the direction a Harris administration might take—a direction that prioritizes handouts to illegal aliens over the concerns of American citizens.
