Vivek Ramaswamy Launches Ohio Governor Bid With Trump’s Full Backing
The former presidential candidate vows to transform Ohio into America’s top state for patriots.

Vivek Ramaswamy, the biotech entrepreneur and former 2024 Republican presidential candidate, officially launched his campaign for Ohio governor on Monday, securing a powerful endorsement from former President Donald Trump. Ramaswamy made his announcement at a vibrant rally in West Chester Township, near his hometown of Cincinnati, where he outlined his vision to elevate Ohio as the leading state in the nation for freedom-loving Americans.
With a clear nod to Trump's influence, Ramaswamy declared, “Trump is reviving our conviction in America. We require a leader here at home who will revive our conviction in Ohio.” Speaking to a packed crowd at CTL Aerospace, he promised, “I will lead Ohio to be the top state in the country where patriots across America actually flock to, instead of Florida and Texas.”
Ramaswamy’s campaign launch is a strategic step in a state that has increasingly leaned red. His promise to make Ohio a "state of excellence" resonates with a conservative base eager for strong leadership.
Trump’s Endorsement: Shortly after the announcement, Trump voiced his support on Truth Social, calling Ramaswamy “Young, Strong, and Smart!” and stating, “He will be a GREAT Governor of Ohio, will never let you down, and has my COMPLETE AND TOTAL ENDORSEMENT!”
Political Background: Ramaswamy ran for president in 2024, ultimately endorsing Trump and nearly securing a spot as his running mate before the nod went to JD Vance.
Leadership Roles: Though initially tapped to co-lead the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) alongside Elon Musk, Ramaswamy did not take up the role. He was also considered as a potential replacement for Vance in the Senate but was passed over for Jon Husted.
Ramaswamy’s candidacy enters a competitive field. Republican Attorney General Dave Yost has already announced his run, while on the Democratic side, former Ohio health director Amy Acton has thrown her hat in the ring. The GOP may see another major contender if Lt. Governor Jim Tressel decides to join the race, while Democrats are eyeing possible bids from ex-Rep. Tim Ryan and former Sen. Sherrod Brown.
Ramaswamy’s outsider status and business acumen could give him an edge with voters frustrated by career politicians. His ability to align with Trump’s America First agenda will be key, especially in a state where Trump won by eight points in both 2016 and 2020.
With Governor Mike DeWine term-limited, Ohioans are ready for a fresh voice. Ramaswamy's energetic vision might be just what the state needs to lead the nation in conservative values and economic growth.
