JD Vance Slams California’s Leadership as Wildfires Devastate LA
Calls out Newsom’s failures while promising Trump’s federal response will be stronger.
Vice President-elect JD Vance didn’t hold back when addressing the devastating wildfires ravaging Southern California, blaming Democrat mismanagement for the destruction and promising a competent federal response under the incoming Trump administration.
Appearing on “Fox News Sunday,” Vance condemned California’s leadership, pointing to failing infrastructure, dry reservoirs, and mismanaged resources as key reasons why the wildfires have been so catastrophic.
Vance directly called out Governor Gavin Newsom for years of failed policies that have left California vulnerable to wildfires.
Fire hydrants ran dry as firefighters desperately tried to contain the blazes.
Reservoirs have been neglected for decades, leaving California without sufficient water reserves.
Poor forest management has turned the state into a tinderbox, year after year.
“There is a serious lack of competent governance in California. And I think it’s part of the reason why these fires have gotten so bad,” Vance said.
With at least 14 dead and thousands of homes destroyed, Newsom attempted to paint the crisis as a time for “unity” and urged President-elect Trump to visit California.
Vance made it clear: Trump cares about all Americans and will ensure FEMA provides a far better response than what Biden’s administration has delivered.
“Biden has been asleep at the wheel for a number of different crises,” Vance said, pointing to California’s current disaster as one of Biden’s last failures before leaving office.
When asked about skepticism over whether Trump will approve aid for California, Vance reiterated that while Trump wants the government to work, he also believes in holding leaders accountable for their failures.
“President Trump often says that the coalition that made him the president was just a common-sense coalition,” Vance explained. “Yes, government should be smaller, but when it does the things it should do, it ought to do them well.”
Trump’s America-first approach means cutting off wasteful spending while ensuring real disaster relief reaches the people who need it not incompetent Democrat bureaucrats who caused the problem in the first place.
This crisis is yet another self-inflicted wound by California’s radical Democrat leadership. Instead of taking responsibility, Newsom is begging for federal help while refusing to fix his state’s failing infrastructure and reckless policies.
Trump and Vance are offering real solutions something California has been missing for far too long.
It’s time for change, or California will continue to burn.
