Vance Says Trump-Brokered Ceasefire Will Hold Despite Hamas Violation

After IDF soldier killed in Gaza, Israel retaliates but Vice President Vance affirms confidence in President Trump’s historic Middle East peace deal.

Vice President JD Vance is assuring Americans and allies that President Trump’s landmark Middle East ceasefire remains intact, despite a violent provocation from Hamas that killed an Israeli soldier on Tuesday.

The attack, which took place behind the “yellow line” the buffer zone established under the Trump-brokered ceasefire represents a clear violation of the peace deal Hamas agreed to earlier this month.

“The president achieved a historic peace in the Middle East. The ceasefire is holding,” Vance said during a press briefing on Capitol Hill. “That doesn’t mean there aren’t going to be little skirmishes here and there… I think the president’s peace is going to hold despite it.”

Vance’s remarks came just hours after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered retaliatory airstrikes against terror targets in Gaza. According to Gaza hospital reports, at least 20 people were killed in the strikes though casualty numbers from Hamas-controlled territory are often inflated or unverifiable.

This most recent violence follows a pattern of deceit and destabilization by Hamas:

  • Last week, Israeli drone footage exposed Hamas terrorists burying the remains of a deceased Israeli hostage, only to call the Red Cross and stage a “discovery” for the media.

  • The IDF released a statement saying Hamas is “attempting to create a false impression of efforts to locate the bodies,” while withholding the hostages' remains as leverage.

  • Even the Red Cross condemned the deception, saying: “It is unacceptable that a fake recovery was staged… when so many families are still anxiously awaiting news of their loved ones.”

Despite the breach, Israel’s response was swift and decisive — underscoring its commitment to both defend its forces and uphold the terms of the ceasefire negotiated by the Trump administration.

This agreement, announced earlier this month, has been hailed as the first sustainable deal between Israel and Hamas in decades negotiated without appeasement, without concessions to terror, and without America getting bogged down in another endless conflict.

Critics in the legacy media will point to every retaliatory strike and call the ceasefire “collapsing,” but the facts on the ground tell a different story: Hamas is losing its grip, and President Trump’s doctrine of peace through strength is holding firm.

Vance’s calm yet confident tone signals what many conservatives already know real leadership doesn’t flinch when provoked. The administration is standing strong, and Israel has every right to defend itself when terrorists violate agreements.
