Chris Van Hollen Defends Alleged MS-13 Member While Ignoring Grieving Angel Mom

Senator Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) is facing intense backlash after prioritizing the rights of an alleged MS-13 gang member over justice for a murdered American mother a move that has drawn outrage from constituents and national conservatives alike.

Patty Morin, an Angel Mom whose daughter Rachel was brutally raped and murdered by an illegal immigrant in 2023, directly called out Van Hollen during a White House press briefing last week. Her emotional testimony questioned why the senator seemed more interested in championing a foreign national’s “due process” than acknowledging the pain of American families shattered by the consequences of open borders.

In response, Van Hollen claimed sympathy for the Morin family while doubling down on his defense of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, an illegal immigrant deported by the Trump administration and allegedly tied to the brutal MS-13 gang.

“I said at the time that my heart goes out to the Morin family,” Van Hollen told Fox’s Shannon Bream. “But courts of law are where people get their due process rights respected.”

Let that sink in. A sitting U.S. senator traveled to a maximum-security prison in El Salvador to advocate for the return of a criminal alien, while an American mother grieves the loss of her daughter raped, strangled, and beaten to death in cold blood by another illegal immigrant. That killer, Victor Antonio Martinez-Hernandez, had already crossed the border unlawfully, with prior violent offenses on his record.

• The suspect in Morin’s murder had entered the country illegally multiple times and slipped through the cracks of Biden’s broken immigration system.

• Senator Van Hollen’s trip to El Salvador was funded by U.S. taxpayers, who have already footed the bill for the chaos and carnage brought by criminal illegals.

Yet Van Hollen insists there’s "zero connection" between his efforts to return Abrego Garcia and Rachel Morin’s brutal death, calling the two issues separate. But for Marylanders and Americans watching the chaos unfold, they’re deeply linked by a common thread: Democrats refusing to take border security seriously until American lives are lost.

It’s clear Van Hollen would rather defend the “rights” of a deported gang member than stand with an Angel Mom whose life was shattered by one of Biden’s imported criminals. And he's not alone. This is the modern Democratic Party one that believes due process for foreign criminals is more important than justice for grieving Americans.

As Donald Trump continues to lead the charge to deport violent illegals and seal the border once and for all, Democrats like Van Hollen are exposing just how far they’re willing to go to protect the system that allowed Rachel Morin’s killer to be here in the first place.
