US fighter jet nearly shot down in second friendly fire incident

Another alarming military failure raises serious concerns about leadership and operational oversight

In a troubling display of military mismanagement, a U.S. Navy F/A-18 Super Hornet was mistakenly shot down over the Red Sea by the guided-missile cruiser USS Gettysburg. The incident, which occurred during operations against Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen, resulted in both pilots ejecting safely, though one sustained minor injuries.

Even more alarming, a second Super Hornet narrowly escaped a similar fate. Reports indicate that a second surface-to-air missile from the USS Gettysburg missed the aircraft by a mere 100 feet, forcing the pilot to execute evasive maneuvers before safely landing on the aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman.

This incident raises serious concerns about the current administration's oversight of military operations. Under President Joe Biden's leadership, the U.S. military has experienced:

  • Increased instances of operational errors, undermining the safety of our service members.

  • Diminished global standing, with adversaries emboldened by perceived American weakness.

  • Questionable strategic decisions, leading to unnecessary risks and complications in active conflict zones.

The friendly fire incident over the Red Sea is not an isolated event but part of a disturbing pattern of incompetence and mismanagement. The Navy has launched an investigation into the matter, but confidence in the current administration's ability to effectively manage our armed forces continues to erode.

As we approach the 2024 presidential elections, it's imperative to reflect on the direction our nation is heading. The safety of our military personnel and the security of our nation depend on strong, decisive leadership—qualities that have been sorely lacking under the Biden administration.

It's time for a change that prioritizes the well-being of our service members and restores America's position of strength on the world stage.
