British Parliament Declares Iran a Significant and Unpredictable Threat
Report warns Tehran’s regime is on par with Russia, uses assassination, and poses national security risks to the UK and West.

The British Parliament is sounding the alarm on Iran’s escalating threat to the West, declaring in a newly released intelligence report that the Islamic regime poses a “significant threat to the UK” one that rivals Russia and cannot be ignored.
The Intelligence and Security Committee of Parliament (ISC) issued a stark warning that Iran’s regime is unpredictable, persistent, and willing to take extreme risks to target its enemies especially dissidents living in Britain.
The report states that Iran’s threat is “dynamic and erratic” and can escalate “sharply with little warning.”
Iran has already carried out or attempted 20 plots to kidnap or assassinate individuals in the UK since January 2022, according to MI5.
Tehran’s nuclear ambitions, combined with its cyber warfare, proxy militias, and global assassination programs, make it a critical security concern.
The report, finalized even before Hamas’s October 7 terrorist attack on Israel, makes clear that Iran’s threat spans the full spectrum of danger: physical violence, cyberattacks, intelligence operations, and nuclear proliferation.
"Iran often operates through proxy groups including criminal networks, militant and terrorist organizations, and private cyber actors," the report notes. This “plausible deniability” strategy allows Iran to attack Western interests with little fear of retaliation.
Perhaps most disturbingly, the committee emphasized that assassination is state policy in Tehran. Dissidents and regime opponents living in Britain are now top targets of both Iran’s Ministry of Intelligence and the IRGC (Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps).
In May, UK police arrested eight Iranian nationals suspected of planning an attack on the Israeli Embassy in London.
The Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, is identified as the central figure behind Iran’s global aggression and domestic repression.
"Iran is there across the full spectrum of all the kinds of threats we have to be concerned with," said ISC Chair Kevan Jones. And unlike other rogue nations, Iran’s unpredictability and its state-sponsored appetite for murder makes it especially dangerous.
This isn’t just Britain’s problem. It’s a reminder that Western nations must wake up to the threat Iran poses from terror plots in Europe to nuclear ambitions in the Middle East.
And under President Trump’s leadership, the United States recognized that threat early. Trump cut off funding, reimposed sanctions, and held Iran accountable actions that Biden’s administration quickly reversed, emboldening Tehran and its proxies from Gaza to London.
The British Parliament’s findings should be a wake-up call to every Western government: the Iranian regime is not a partner for peace it is a hostile actor on par with Russia and China, and it’s time to treat it as such.
