Tommy Tuberville Launches Alabama Governor Bid to ‘Put Alabama First’
Senator leans on Trump ties, promises to bring America First leadership back home as Alabama heads into new era.

Senator Tommy Tuberville is coming home and bringing America First with him.
On Tuesday, Tuberville officially announced his campaign for governor of Alabama, kicking off his bid from Byron’s Smokehouse in Auburn, the same down-home venue where he launched his 2019 U.S. Senate run. With strong ties to President Donald Trump and a clear message to “put Alabama first,” Tuberville enters the race as the runaway favorite to succeed outgoing Republican Governor Kay Ivey.
“President Trump was a guy that really was behind me in doing the Senate race. He’s been behind me ever since,” Tuberville said during his announcement on Fox News’ The Will Cain Show. “Today, I will announce that I will be the future governor of the great state of Alabama.”
While Trump has yet to make a formal endorsement, Tuberville made clear he has the former president’s blessing and is planning to be part of Trump’s broader plan to restore America’s greatness from the ground up.
“We’ve got a lot of work to do nationally,” Tuberville added. “Meantime, I will be running every weekend… to win this governor’s race, come back to Alabama, and work with President Trump… because he’s fully supportive of this, to keep making America great again and put Alabama first.”
Here’s why Tuberville’s run matters:
He’s a proven winner who flipped a Senate seat red in 2020 by defeating Democrat Doug Jones, a key Trump opponent.
His entry into the race cleared the field after Alabama Lt. Gov. Will Ainsworth and other notable Republicans backed off.
As governor, he would align Alabama directly with Trump’s America First agenda on immigration, education, energy, and defending conservative values.
Tuberville’s gubernatorial run also opens up a high-stakes Senate race. Early buzz points to Auburn men’s basketball coach Bruce Pearl, an outspoken supporter of Israel and opponent of antisemitism, as a likely candidate to fill Tuberville’s soon-to-be-vacant seat.
With Kay Ivey term-limited, Alabama voters are ready for the next chapter and Tuberville has the track record and MAGA loyalty to deliver. His shift from the U.S. Senate back to Alabama’s executive branch shows where the real fight is heading: state by state, where conservative values are either defended or destroyed.
In an era where the federal government is increasingly hostile to traditional American principles, Tuberville’s decision to bring bold, unapologetic leadership back to Montgomery could prove critical not just for Alabama but for the country.
