Trump Calls Out Zelensky for Sabotaging Peace Talks
The former president says Ukraine’s leader is playing with fire and risking more needless bloodshed.

President Donald Trump is once again proving that leadership means making the tough calls and he's not holding back. In a fiery Truth Social post, Trump called out Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky for torpedoing ongoing peace talks with Russia, after Zelensky flatly rejected a U.S. proposal to recognize Russia’s control of Crimea.
“This statement is very harmful to the Peace Negotiations,” Trump warned, “Crimea was lost years ago under the auspices of President Barack Hussein Obama.” And he’s not wrong.
Let’s break this down:
Crimea has been under Russian control since 2014, thanks to the Obama-Biden foreign policy disaster that let Putin walk in unopposed. Not a single shot was fired. Now, more than a decade later, Zelensky is acting as if he can undo that history by stamping his feet.
The Trump administration isn’t asking Ukraine to recognize Crimea as Russian but it’s clear that pretending the past didn’t happen is holding back much-needed peace. Trump's stance is pragmatic: stop pretending, start negotiating.
More than 5,000 Russian and Ukrainian soldiers are dying each week, according to Trump, in a war that should have never started in the first place. And he's absolutely right. This conflict exploded under Joe Biden’s watch and it would’ve never escalated like this under Trump.
Trump made it plain: “He can have Peace or, he can fight for another three years before losing the whole Country.” The message is simple: there is a path to ending the war but Zelensky’s grandstanding and “inflammatory statements” are dragging it out.
While the Biden administration continues to bungle diplomacy and hand out blank checks to Ukraine, it’s Trump who’s offering real solutions. Peace, not endless war. Deals, not dead ends.
Vice President JD Vance echoed Trump’s frustration, warning that the U.S. is close to walking away from the negotiating table. And he’s not bluffing. Secretary of State Marco Rubio even canceled a high-level meeting in London this week after Ukraine backed out of responding to new proposals.
Trump also reminded the world: “This Complete and Total MESS... would have never started if I were President!” It’s hard to argue with that. Under Trump, America wasn’t just respected it was feared, and that fear kept bad actors like Putin in check.
The current administration’s weakness has emboldened adversaries and dragged us into another endless conflict. Trump is showing the world what a real leader looks like: bold, unapologetic, and focused on putting an end to the killing not scoring headlines.
