Trump And UK Prime Minister Starmer Finalize New Trade Deal

The landmark agreement cuts tariffs and strengthens economic ties between the two allies.

In a major win for both nations, President Donald Trump and U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced a new trade agreement Monday that will cut tariffs and expand economic cooperation between the United States and Britain. The deal was finalized on the sidelines of the G7 Summit in Canada, signaling yet another foreign policy and economic victory for Trump as global leaders gathered.

Trump described the agreement as “fair to both sides” and emphasized the benefits it will bring to workers and industries on both sides of the Atlantic.

“We have our trade agreement with the [United Kingdom] and it’s a fair deal for both, and it’s going to produce a lot of jobs, a lot of income, and we have many, many other ones coming,” Trump told reporters. “The level of enthusiasm is very good, but the relationship that we have is fantastic.”

Prime Minister Starmer echoed Trump’s optimism, calling the deal a "really important agreement."

“This is a very good day for both of our countries, a real sign of strength. So, thank you again, Donald. A really important day for both of us,” Starmer said.

The general terms of the agreement released by the White House include several key provisions:

  • A 10% tariff will apply to the first 100,000 vehicles imported annually from Britain into the U.S.

  • Tariffs will be removed on a range of aerospace products, giving a boost to both American and British aviation industries.

  • The deal sets up ongoing negotiations on steel and aluminum trade, with the U.K. agreeing to work toward meeting U.S. security standards for supply chain integrity and ownership requirements.

This agreement builds on a preliminary framework announced earlier this year in May, when Trump posted on Truth Social that the United Kingdom would be the first nation to finalize a comprehensive new trade agreement under his administration’s revised policies.

“The agreement with the United Kingdom is a full and comprehensive one that will cement the relationship between the United States and the United Kingdom for many years to come,” Trump said at the time. “Because of our long time history and allegiance together, it is a great honor to have the United Kingdom as our FIRST announcement.”

The trade deal stands as a powerful contrast to the failed international trade policies under previous Democratic administrations. While Biden and his globalist allies spent years pushing America into weak, one-sided agreements that hollowed out American manufacturing and cost American workers, Trump has delivered a true America First economic strategy that both protects American jobs and fosters strong alliances with trusted partners.

As world tensions rise in the Middle East and Europe, Trump’s leadership continues to provide the steady hand necessary to secure American interests abroad not only in security but in trade. With the U.S. economy booming under his policies, this latest deal further demonstrates why Trump remains the only leader capable of restoring America’s global dominance both militarily and economically.
