Trump Plans Texas Visit After Catastrophic Flooding

President Donald Trump announced Sunday that he plans to visit Texas later this week to personally inspect the catastrophic flood damage that has devastated parts of the state and claimed at least 80 lives, with many more still missing.

“We wanted to leave a little time. I would’ve done it today, but we’d just be in their way,” Trump told reporters, adding that Friday is the likely date for his visit.

While FEMA’s future role remains unclear, Trump has already taken decisive action. He issued a Major Disaster Declaration for Kerr County, the hardest-hit region, where 68 of the fatalities occurred including 28 children after the Guadalupe River surged 26 feet in under an hour.

Trump emphasized the federal government’s support “These families are enduring an unimaginable tragedy... The Trump Administration continues to work closely with State and Local Leaders.”

• 850 lives have been saved thanks to rapid response efforts from the U.S. Coast Guard and Texas first responders.

Trump's remarks stood in stark contrast to the slow, bungled federal responses under past leadership particularly FEMA’s disaster during Hurricane Helene in 2024, which left thousands in limbo in North Carolina.
