Trump Slams Newsom Over Missing $100 Million From FireAid Concert

Californians devastated by wildfires are demanding answers after charity funds fail to reach victims.

President Donald Trump isn’t holding back when it comes to California Governor Gavin Newsom and the latest scandal involving $100 million raised for wildfire victims that seemingly vanished into political pet projects.

FireAid, a heavily publicized concert featuring Hollywood elites and music superstars like Katy Perry, Olivia Rodrigo, and Lady Gaga, was sold as a lifeline for victims of the devastating wildfires that swept through Altadena and Pacific Palisades. Celebrities, including Top Gun star Miles Teller and Samuel L. Jackson, promised donors that every penny would go directly to the people who lost their homes.

But wildfire victims say they’ve seen nothing. Sue Pascoe, editor-in-chief of Circling the News and herself a fire victim called the situation “skullduggery,” noting that no direct relief reached the displaced families. David Howard, who lost two homes, confirmed that neither he nor his neighbors had received a dime. “Where is the money?” asked Altadena resident Mark Jones, who also lost his home.

Trump took to Truth Social to call out the mess in his trademark style “FIREAID IS A TOTAL DISASTER. LOOKS LIKE ANOTHER DEMOCRAT INSPIRED SCAM. 100 MILLION DOLLARS IS MISSING… GOVERNOR NEWSCUM REFUSED TO RELEASE BILLIONS OF GALLONS OF WATER… I HAVE SINCE OVERRULED HIM, AND IT IS NOW RELEASED. ALL FEDERAL HOUSING PERMITS HAVE ALSO BEEN APPROVED, THE CITY IS YEARS LATE. GET THE FIRE VICTIMS THEIR APPROVALS TO REBUILD, AND DO IT NOW!”

Newsom, instead of offering solutions, mocked Trump on X a typical reaction from a governor more interested in political jabs than accountability.

Adding fuel to the fire, investigations revealed that some of the nonprofits receiving FireAid funds are using the money for vague ideological projects instead of immediate relief. One group pledged to create “a more humane and democratic society,” while another focused on “cultivating egalitarian relationships.” None of this pays for a single lost home or provides immediate shelter to suffering families.

The Bigger Picture

  • California has been plagued by mismanagement of wildfire prevention and water resources, with Newsom’s policies worsening the crises.

  • Homelessness in the state has soared by over 40% since Newsom took office, and wildfire losses have topped billions yet the governor keeps prioritizing progressive pet projects over actual solutions.

  • While families sift through ashes, Sacramento Democrats funnel charitable funds to social justice nonprofits instead of direct aid.

Rep. Kevin Kiley (R-CA) has now called on the Attorney General to investigate the FireAid scandal, demanding transparency and accountability. Californians deserve to know why $100 million in goodwill has been redirected away from the very people it was meant to help.

Trump’s leadership message remains clear disasters require action, not bureaucracy and virtue-signaling. With Democrats in charge, accountability vanishes just like the FireAid funds.
