Trump Secures Major Trade and Peace Deals During Scotland Trip

The president’s overseas visit delivers a historic EU trade agreement and a ceasefire in Southeast Asia.

President Donald Trump’s visit to Scotland has proven to be a diplomatic and economic victory, with the White House celebrating a slate of major accomplishments including a groundbreaking trade agreement with the European Union and a ceasefire between Thailand and Cambodia.

“From peace deals to trade deals, this President has proven to be the ultimate negotiator and Deal Maker in Chief on behalf of the American people,” said White House Assistant Press Secretary Taylor Rogers.

A Game-Changing EU Trade Agreement

The newly announced Cooperation Agreement on Reciprocal, Fair and Balanced Trade between the U.S. and EU promises to modernize transatlantic commerce while boosting American exports:

  • The EU will remove significant tariffs on U.S. industrial goods, opening new markets for American farmers, ranchers, and manufacturers.

  • The EU will purchase $750 billion in U.S. energy exports over Trump’s current term, strengthening American energy dominance and reducing Europe’s dependence on Russian resources.

  • European companies will invest $600 billion in the U.S., alongside over $100 billion annually in fresh investments from EU firms.

The White House described the deal as a "generational modernization of the transatlantic alliance," predicting significant economic growth and job creation across America.

Trump also brokered a ceasefire between Thailand and Cambodia, ending a dangerous regional conflict that threatened thousands of lives.
“Just spoke to the Acting Prime Minister of Thailand and Prime Minister of Cambodia. I am pleased to announce that, after the involvement of President Donald J. Trump, both Countries have reached a CEASEFIRE and PEACE,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

The president emphasized that ongoing trade talks with both countries would have been halted if fighting had continued. “We happen to be, by coincidence, currently dealing on Trade with both Countries, but do not want to make any Deal, with either Country, if they are fighting — And I have told them so!” he added.

Speaking alongside British Prime Minister Keir Starmer in Scotland, Trump expressed frustration with Russian President Vladimir Putin, announcing that he is reducing his 50-day peace deadline to just 10–12 days.
“We thought we had that settled numerous times, and then President Putin goes out and starts launching rockets into some city, like Kyiv, and kills a lot of people in a nursing home or whatever,” Trump said. “You have bodies lying all over the street. And I said, ‘That’s not the way to do it.’”

Trump also addressed the crisis in Gaza, promising to deliver food and aid to starving children. “Those children look very hungry. We’re gonna be getting some good, strong food,” he told reporters. “We can save a lot of people. Those kids that’s real starvation. I see it. You can’t fake that.”

With both major trade victories and diplomatic breakthroughs, Trump’s Scotland trip has highlighted his ability to combine America’s economic strength with direct, results-oriented leadership on the global stage.
