Trump Fires Back in ‘Obama-Biden Shower Regulations’ Debate
President fights back against pointless regulation and restores Americans’ right to decent water pressure.

President Donald Trump is making sure Americans can shower like free people again. On Wednesday, he signed a new executive order dismantling yet another piece of the Obama-Biden regulatory machine this time targeting the ridiculous restrictions on showerhead water pressure.
“In my case, I like to take a nice shower to take care of my beautiful hair,” Trump joked in the Oval Office. “I have to stand in the shower for 15 minutes until it gets wet. It comes out drip, drip, drip. It’s ridiculous.”
And he’s right. For years, Americans have dealt with federal limits capping showerhead flow at 2.5 gallons per minute across all nozzles combined thanks to Obama-era rules that valued environmental signaling over common sense. Trump tried to fix it in 2020 by allowing each nozzle to flow at 2.5 gallons per minute. Biden reversed it in 2021.
Now, Trump’s back in the White House, and he’s picking up right where he left off restoring pressure not just in our showers, but in the fight for freedom and consumer choice.
The new order directs the Department of Energy to rescind Biden’s definition of “showerhead” and officially reinstate Trump’s common-sense rule, which goes into effect 30 days after publication in the Federal Register.
This may sound minor, but it’s a symbol of something much bigger. As Trump’s White House noted in a fact sheet:
Overregulation chokes the American economy
Entrenches unelected bureaucrats
Stifles personal freedom
Whether it’s weak showers, low-flush toilets, or dishwashers that take hours to clean a single load, this is about letting Americans decide how they want to live not some EPA bureaucrat or “climate czar” sitting in Washington.
Trump also hinted that more action is coming. He wants Congress to “memorialize” these commonsense reforms, including his recent crackdown on paper straws, to make sure they can’t be easily undone by the next wave of leftist regulators.
And while the Biden administration defended its approach by citing droughts and water conservation, the real agenda was clear control. As with so many Biden-era rules, it was never about helping people it was about pushing top-down mandates from a bloated federal government obsessed with micromanaging every faucet in your home.
Trump’s executive order puts the power back in your hands literally.
