Trump to Speak with Putin Amid Breakthrough Ukraine Ceasefire Talks

Strong diplomacy pushes toward peace as Biden-era chaos gives way to Trump-led negotiations.

President Donald Trump announced Sunday that he will hold a crucial conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, as negotiations to bring the Russia-Ukraine war to an end move closer to real results.

Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One, Trump revealed "We will see if we have something to announce maybe by Tuesday. I will be speaking to President Putin on Tuesday. A lot of work’s been done over the weekend. We want to see if we can bring that war to an end."

This comes after significant diplomatic progress in recent weeks progress spearheaded not by career bureaucrats or globalist organizations, but by Trump and his handpicked team of negotiators.

Key developments include:

  • U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff met with Putin last week in Moscow for several hours, describing the conversation as “positive.”

  • Negotiations in Saudi Arabia, led by National Security Advisor Mike Waltz and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, resulted in Ukraine agreeing to a 30-day ceasefire pending Russian approval.

  • The two sides, once miles apart, are now reportedly much closer to a final agreement.

Witkoff emphasized how far things have come "The two sides are today, a lot closer. We had some really positive results coming out of Saudi Arabia... I describe my conversation with President Putin as equally positive."

Senator Marco Rubio echoed the optimism, outlining the strategy:

  • Plan A: Implement a ceasefire to halt active fighting.

  • Plan B: Move to negotiate a durable, permanent end to the conflict.

This stands in sharp contrast to the Biden administration’s approach, which poured over $75 billion into a war with no end in sight, allowing continued bloodshed while U.S. taxpayers footed the bill. Under Trump, the focus is clear strong leadership, direct negotiations, and putting an end to endless wars.

While last week saw escalations Ukraine launching a massive drone attack on Moscow, followed by Russian missile and drone assaults the Trump team’s efforts now offer a genuine pathway to peace.

This is leadership in action. Diplomacy backed by strength, not weakness. Results, not rhetoric.
