Trump Orders Nuclear Weapons Testing to Match China and Russia

President says U.S. must act as adversaries escalate secret programs while Democrats stay silent.

President Donald Trump is making it clear: America will no longer sit idle while its enemies build up nuclear stockpiles in the shadows.

In a major national security announcement on Wednesday, President Trump declared that the United States will resume nuclear weapons testing to keep pace with adversaries like Russia, China, North Korea, and Pakistan, all of whom he says have been quietly advancing their programs while the U.S. stayed restrained.

“The United States has more Nuclear Weapons than any other country,” Trump said in a post on Truth Social. “This was accomplished, including a complete update and renovation of existing weapons, during my First Term. Because of other countries’ testing programs, I have instructed the Department of War to start testing our Nuclear Weapons on an equal basis.”

In a video message, Trump emphasized that the decision wasn't taken lightly, noting the enormous destructive power involved but warned that U.S. strength and security cannot afford hesitation.

“Because of the tremendous destructive power, I hated to do it… but I really had no choice,” he said. “Russia is second in line, and China is a distant third, but will be even within five years.”

Trump’s comments build on earlier warnings made during his recent “60 Minutes” interview, where he exposed the secretive nature of foreign testing programs:

  • Russia and China are actively testing nuclear weapons, despite international agreements.

  • The U.S., as an “open society,” talks about its programs while authoritarian regimes hide theirs.

  • North Korea and Pakistan are also engaging in nuclear testing.

“Russia’s testing, and China’s testing, but they don’t talk about it… We’re going to test, because they test and others test,” Trump said.

This announcement triggered immediate backlash from Russia. President Vladimir Putin, following a meeting with Russia’s Security Council, claimed that Russia has followed the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty but that Trump’s comments have forced a reassessment. Deputy Security Council Chair Dmitry Medvedev issued a chilling response:

“Russia will be forced to assess the expediency of conducting full-fledged nuclear tests itself.”

So while Trump is acting to ensure U.S. military superiority, Russia is rattling the saber, and China remains silent but steadily advancing. Meanwhile, where are the Democrats?

Nowhere.

No meaningful response. No plans to counter China’s aggression. No urgency to deal with Russian threats. Instead, they’re more interested in policing pronouns than protecting America.

This is the very type of weak global posture that President Trump has vowed to end. During his first term, Trump overhauled the nuclear arsenal after years of decay under Obama and Biden. Under his leadership, the U.S. reclaimed its position as the world’s most powerful nuclear force a status now being reaffirmed as our adversaries grow bolder.

And while the left will scream about arms races, the real threat is what happens if we don’t respond. You don’t stop tyrants by begging. You stop them with strength.

America has never asked permission to defend itself and we won’t start now.
