Trump, After Call with Putin, Initiates Talks to End Ukraine War
President Moves Swiftly To Stop Bloodshed Biden Failed To Prevent.

President Donald Trump has taken the first major step toward ending the war in Ukraine, announcing that negotiations will begin immediately following a “highly productive” phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Trump revealed the breakthrough on Truth Social, confirming that Secretary of State Marco Rubio, CIA Director John Ratcliffe, National Security Advisor Michael Waltz, and Special Envoy Steve Witkoff will lead the talks.
“Millions of people have died in a war that would not have happened if I were President, but it did happen, so it must end,” Trump said. “No more lives should be lost!”
Since 2022, the war has resulted in more than one million Ukrainians killed or injured. Instead of pursuing peace, the Biden administration poured billions of U.S. taxpayer dollars into the conflict while failing to deliver any meaningful diplomatic resolution.
Trump’s approach is different he is bringing both sides to the table and using diplomacy backed by strength.
Direct engagement with Putin: Unlike Biden, who failed to establish leverage over Moscow, Trump is making it clear that peace talks will be handled on America’s terms.
Cutting through bureaucratic red tape: While career politicians drag their feet, Trump has already assigned a team of top U.S. officials to begin negotiations immediately.
Ending unnecessary bloodshed: Trump’s focus is on stopping senseless deaths and moving toward a lasting peace, rather than continuing Biden’s policy of endless funding with no exit strategy.
During his conversation with Putin, Trump discussed issues beyond Ukraine, including the Middle East, energy, and artificial intelligence showcasing a diplomatic approach that prioritizes American interests while fostering stability.
“We each talked about the strengths of our respective Nations, and the great benefit that we will someday have in working together,” Trump stated. “But first, as we both agreed, we want to stop the millions of deaths taking place in the War with Russia/Ukraine.”
Putin even echoed Trump’s signature campaign motto, saying their approach to negotiations must be guided by “COMMON SENSE.”
In another major victory, Trump successfully negotiated the release of American school teacher Marc Fogel, who had been wrongfully imprisoned in Russia for more than three years. In exchange, the U.S. returned Russian cybercriminal Alexander Vinnik proving that Trump prioritizes getting Americans home while still securing favorable deals.
Vice President JD Vance is in Europe meeting with allies and Ukrainian officials to solidify Trump’s vision for a resolution. Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has signaled openness to a land swap deal, acknowledging the reality that Ukraine’s pre-2014 borders may no longer be achievable.
Putin’s conditions for ending the war include Ukraine abandoning NATO aspirations and recognizing Russian control over four contested regions. With Trump leading the negotiations, the possibility of a realistic, lasting peace is within reach something Biden never even attempted.
Once again, President Trump is proving that real leadership gets results.
