2,000 More National Guard Troops Head to L.A. Under Trump’s Orders

Los Angeles has once again become ground zero for chaos as President Donald Trump mobilized an additional 2,000 National Guard troops on Monday night to help restore order after a weekend of violent riots. The president's decisive action comes as Democrat leaders in California continue to play politics while their cities burn and law enforcement is overwhelmed.

With this latest deployment, the total number of military personnel on the ground in L.A. has reached at least 4,700. This includes 2,000 Guardsmen previously deployed on Saturday and 700 U.S. Marines sent in on Monday. Speaking on Truth Social, Trump made it clear that his leadership prevented a complete collapse of public safety:

"If I didn’t ‘SEND IN THE TROOPS’ to Los Angeles the last three nights, that once beautiful and great City would be burning to the ground right now."

The riots were ignited by recent federal immigration enforcement operations, including arrests of illegal immigrants with criminal records some involving drug trafficking and firearms offenses. But instead of supporting law and order, California Democrats have rushed to sue the Trump administration for deploying the National Guard, claiming that Trump infringed on Governor Gavin Newsom’s authority.

Governor Newsom, along with L.A.’s Democrat Mayor Karen Bass, absurdly claim that the situation was under control before Trump intervened. Newsom announced he was sending in 800 more state and local officers to "clean up President Trump’s mess," while ignoring the fact that rioters were attacking police with rocks, cement, and fireworks. Bass accused Washington of “choreographing” the events, an outrageous claim as her own city’s businesses burned and looters rampaged unchecked.

Key facts highlighting the situation:

• Rioters vandalized and looted at least five businesses, including a T-Mobile store and two athletic footwear shops.

• 42 agitators were arrested in Los Angeles alone, some facing charges of assaulting officers and attempted murder.

• Multiple Waymo robotaxis were torched by rioters waving Mexican flags, forcing Waymo to suspend services in the area.

• In neighboring San Francisco, anti-ICE protests escalated into more violence, resulting in 150 arrests and injuries to at least two police officers.

According to FBI statistics, violent crime has risen nearly 30% in Los Angeles over the past three years, with homicides, assaults, and carjackings all surging under Democrat leadership. Meanwhile, border apprehensions hit 2.5 million last fiscal year another crisis created by the Biden administration’s open border policies that continue to fuel lawlessness across American cities.

Rather than accepting responsibility, Democrat leaders continue to demonize federal efforts to restore order, while their weak leadership emboldens violent agitators and undermines the safety of law-abiding citizens.

As Trump rightly pointed out, had he not acted swiftly, Los Angeles might have faced irreversible devastation all because of the Left’s reckless refusal to enforce the law.
