Trump to Award Rudy Giuliani the Presidential Medal of Freedom
After surviving a serious car crash, “America’s Mayor” is set to receive the nation’s highest civilian honor from President Trump.

President Donald Trump has announced that former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani will be awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian honor in the United States.
The announcement came on Labor Day via Trump’s Truth Social account, just days after Giuliani was injured in a serious car accident in New Hampshire.
“Rudy Giuliani, the greatest Mayor in the history of New York City, and an equally great American Patriot, will receive THE PRESIDENTIAL MEDAL OF FREEDOM,” Trump wrote. “Details as to time and place to follow. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
The timing of the announcement carries deep emotional weight, coming less than 48 hours after Giuliani, 81, was struck from behind at high speed while traveling on a highway. But the story doesn’t end with the crash it begins just moments before, when Giuliani reportedly stopped to assist a woman involved in a domestic violence situation.
According to his security chief Michael Ragusa, Giuliani helped the victim and called 911, remaining on the scene until law enforcement arrived. Only after that act of civic courage did the collision occur, leaving both vehicles heavily damaged. Thankfully, both Giuliani and the 19-year-old driver of the other car suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
Giuliani, who served as mayor of New York City from 1994 to 2001, remains one of the most iconic leaders in modern American history. His leadership in the aftermath of the 9/11 terrorist attacks earned him the title “America’s Mayor,” as he brought calm, order, and strength to a city and a nation in mourning.
In his 2002 book Leadership, Giuliani recounted returning to Ground Zero multiple times on the day of the attacks. He understood that leadership in crisis demanded visibility, clarity, and unshakable resolve.
“I had to communicate with the public, to do whatever I could to calm people down and communicate with them,” he wrote.
Giuliani has also been a fierce ally of President Trump, helping expose the rot within the political establishment and challenging the results of the 2020 election. For this, he has faced relentless attacks from the left and their media mouthpieces and yet he’s never backed down.
While Democrats give medals to political cronies and career bureaucrats, Trump’s decision to honor Giuliani reminds Americans what true service, patriotism, and courage look like.
This isn't just an award for one man it's a recognition of bold leadership and a refusal to cower in the face of chaos. And it’s another reminder that under President Trump, real heroes still get honored.
Keep an eye out for more updates on the ceremony as they’re announced.
