Trump Slams Mamdani Victory Speech as Dangerous and Disrespectful

President warns new NYC mayor’s radical socialism and hostility to Washington could cost the city.

President Donald Trump isn’t mincing words when it comes to New York City’s new mayor-elect, Zohran Mamdani. The self-proclaimed democratic socialist may have won Tuesday’s race, but his victory speech has already triggered serious concerns from the White House.

In a Wednesday night interview on Fox News, Trump blasted Mamdani for delivering what he described as a “very angry” and “dangerous” message particularly toward the federal government and the president himself.

“I thought it was a very angry speech, certainly angry toward me,” Trump told Fox’s Bret Baier. “He should be very nice to me… I’m the one that sort of has to approve a lot of things coming to him, so he’s off to a bad start.”

And that “bad start” could quickly spiral into a nightmare for New Yorkers. In his speech, Mamdani took direct aim at Trump, declaring, “To get to any of us, you will have to get through all of us.” Trump called the statement “very dangerous,” warning that open defiance toward Washington puts the city’s future in jeopardy.

“He has to be a little bit respectful of Washington, because if he’s not, he doesn’t have a chance of succeeding,” Trump said. “I want to make the city succeed. I don’t want to make him succeed.”

Mamdani isn’t just another progressive mayor he’s a radical socialist bent on reshaping New York into a failed experiment. His platform includes:

  • Rent freezes across the city, further gutting the real estate market

  • Free bus fares funded by taxpayers already drowning in inflation

  • City-run grocery stores, a favorite policy of collapsing regimes around the world

Trump, a proud native of New York City, made it clear that his issue isn’t with the city itself, but with Mamdani’s extreme agenda.

“I would like to see the new mayor do well because I love New York. I really love New York,” Trump said. “But for a thousand years, communism has not worked… I tend to doubt it’s going to work this time.”

It’s not just Trump raising red flags. Mamdani’s inner circle is already filling up with left-wing bureaucrats from the failed de Blasio and Adams administrations, including:

  • Elana Leopold, de Blasio senior staffer

  • Lina Khan, former FTC commissioner and progressive antitrust crusader

  • Maria Torres-Springer, former housing chief under Adams

  • Melanie Hartzog, former health chief under Adams

This isn’t a team built to fix a broken city it’s a team built to push a radical agenda no matter the cost.

Mamdani defeated both Democrat-turned-independent Andrew Cuomo and Republican Curtis Sliwa in the race. Trump had endorsed Cuomo in a last-ditch effort to block the far-left from taking over New York City. Unfortunately, thanks to Democratic infighting and Republican underperformance, Mamdani now has the keys to one of America’s largest cities.

What happens next remains to be seen. But one thing is clear. Trump has drawn a line. Respect Washington, protect New Yorkers, and drop the dangerous rhetoric or face the consequences.
