Trump Administration Eyes Raleigh As Next Target In Immigration Raid Crackdown
Federal deportation sweep expands after Charlotte arrests, as local leaders reject cooperation.

The Trump administration is preparing to expand its aggressive immigration enforcement campaign, with Raleigh, North Carolina now in the crosshairs following a string of high-profile deportation sweeps in other Democrat-run cities.
According to local officials, Border Patrol agents are expected to deploy in Raleigh in the coming days as part of a broader federal strategy to crack down on sanctuary policies and enforce existing immigration laws. The move comes just days after more than 130 illegal immigrants were arrested in Charlotte, sparking outrage from the state’s Democratic governor and far-left activists.
Raleigh Mayor Janet Cowell confirmed the reports Monday, stating, “We have been made aware that Customs and Border Protection are coming to Raleigh.” She emphasized that the Raleigh Police Department is not participating in the operation, but reiterated that the city would “follow the law.”
The Department of Homeland Security declined to confirm or deny future operations, but made it clear that enforcement is ongoing across the country.
“We do not discuss future or potential operations,” said DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin. “Every day, DHS enforces the laws of the nation across the country.”
Here’s the reality on the ground in North Carolina:
More than 1,400 illegal immigrants are currently in state jails with ICE detainers but sanctuary policies are blocking their deportation.
North Carolina’s Democratic leadership refuses to cooperate with ICE, even when criminal aliens are involved.
The Trump administration’s renewed operations are targeting cities where local officials are actively obstructing federal law.
Governor Josh Stein lashed out at federal agents, accusing them of racial profiling and using “paramilitary garb” to intimidate residents a talking point that has become a favorite among leftist activists and open-borders advocates.
But here’s what they’re not saying: these raids are targeting individuals who are in the country illegally many with criminal records and who have been shielded from deportation by local Democrat policies that prioritize politics over public safety.
The pushback is predictable, but the facts are undeniable. Sanctuary cities like Raleigh are harboring thousands of illegal immigrants, including violent offenders, and refusing to cooperate with ICE. That makes these jurisdictions not just complicit, but actively undermining federal immigration law.
President Trump has made it clear: the era of selective enforcement is over.
Whether it’s Chicago, Charlotte, New Orleans, or now Raleigh, the message is the same no city is above the law. And when state or local leaders won’t do their job, the federal government will.
