Trump Appoints Louisiana Governor as Special Envoy to Greenland
Is Trump reviving his bold plan to bring Greenland under U.S. control to secure America’s future?

President Donald Trump is once again proving that he’s playing chess while the rest of the world is stuck on checkers. In a strategic move that’s shaking the global establishment, Trump has named Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry as special envoy to Greenland a clear signal that he hasn’t shelved his vision to bring the mineral-rich Arctic territory under U.S. influence.
Governor Landry, a staunch conservative and former U.S. Congressman, announced Sunday night that he will take on the role in a volunteer capacity while continuing to serve as Louisiana’s governor. The decision reflects Trump’s ongoing commitment to strengthening national security and securing vital resources for America’s future.
“It’s an honor to serve you in this volunteer position to make Greenland a part of the U.S.,” Landry wrote on X. “This in no way affects my position as Governor of Louisiana!”
This isn’t some far-fetched land grab it's a smart geopolitical play. Greenland sits at a strategic military and economic crossroads between North America and Russia. Its vast natural resources including rare earth minerals, oil, and natural gas are a key reason why both China and Russia have aggressively tried to establish influence there.
Meanwhile, under the Biden administration, the U.S. has sat back while adversaries crept into our hemisphere. But Trump has different plans:
Greenland contains an estimated 38.5 million metric tons of rare earth oxides, a crucial resource for military and tech industries.
China currently controls over 60% of the global rare earth supply, giving them dangerous leverage over the West.
Greenland’s Thule Air Base is already home to a major U.S. missile warning system, underscoring its strategic importance.
Trump’s push to purchase or integrate Greenland into the U.S. framework is a bold, visionary move to lock down a foothold in the Arctic and shut out America’s enemies. Back in March, Trump said he was “100%” sure the U.S. would acquire Greenland demonstrating the kind of confidence and determination we haven’t seen since Reagan.
Of course, European globalists are panicking. Denmark and Greenland’s left-wing leaders immediately released a joint statement condemning Trump’s move, claiming that “you cannot annex another country.” But no one is talking about annexation. Trump’s approach is diplomatic, strategic, and entirely within the bounds of international law. The real threat to sovereignty comes from the creeping influence of China and Russia not the United States.
While Joe Biden and Kamala Harris continue to embarrass America on the world stage with incoherent foreign policy and weakness, Trump is looking ahead. He’s assembling the right team, making the right calls, and showing what real leadership looks like.
Governor Landry’s appointment is more than symbolic it’s the latest sign that Trump is preparing to reshape America’s future with strength, clarity, and unapologetic American interests at the center.
