Trump Targets High Food Costs in McDonald’s Franchisee Speech

As Americans suffer under Biden’s inflation, Trump takes bold steps to bring food prices down.

President Donald Trump is making it clear that food prices are not just an economic issue they’re a political priority. On Monday evening, Trump will deliver remarks to a group of McDonald’s franchisees, suppliers, and operators in Washington, D.C., sending a strong message to an industry that touches the lives of nearly every American.

As Bidenflation continues to hammer working families, Trump is taking his economic message directly to the people who serve 25 million Americans every single day.

“The Biden administration started the affordability crisis, but President Trump will end it so all Americans can achieve economic prosperity,” a White House official said ahead of the event.

This “Impact Summit” where Trump will be the only major Republican speaker amid a lineup of Democrat politicians gives him the perfect stage to contrast his America First economic strategy with Biden’s inflationary mess.

Under Biden:

  • Food prices skyrocketed inflation hit 9.1% in June 2022, the highest in four decades.

  • Ground beef alone surged 13.5% year-over-year, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

  • The average price of a Big Mac jumped to $6.01, up from $5.69 just a year earlier.

Even McDonald’s CEO Chris Kempczinski admitted the company is struggling to keep prices reasonable, saying inflation continues to put “pressure on the industry,” particularly with beef prices. That pressure has forced McDonald’s and other chains to raise prices pricing out the very Americans who depend on affordable meals.

Trump’s solution? Real leadership and bold action.

Last week, the Trump administration announced a rollback of tariffs on hundreds of imported food products including beef, coffee, tea, bananas, and fruit juices in an effort to drive down prices for everyday consumers. These items, many of which are not widely produced in the U.S., have become more expensive under Biden’s protectionist policies.

And unlike Biden, Trump isn’t just pushing papers or reading off a teleprompter. He’s shown up at McDonald’s locations, rolled up his sleeves, and literally served customers even manning the fry station on the 2024 campaign trail. Trump understands the heart of the American economy because he never abandoned the people who make it run.

This isn’t just optics. It’s about reasserting control over an economy that has spiraled under Joe Biden. Millions of Americans can’t afford the same groceries they bought just a few years ago. Parents are trading down from meat to pasta. Families are skipping meals to pay for gas. And Biden’s White House keeps gaslighting the public with cherry-picked numbers.

But the numbers don’t lie. Food inflation is still painfully high, and the American people are still hurting.

President Trump’s address to the McDonald’s franchise community signals a clear shift in focus a commitment to restore affordability and dignity for every American. It’s a message that’s long overdue, and one that’s resonating louder with each overpriced grocery trip.
