The move sparked outrage from parents, athletes, and advocates of women's sports and drew swift condemnation from President Trump.

“A Biological Male competed in California Girls State Finals, WINNING BIG,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “Despite the fact that they were warned by me not to do so... large scale fines will be imposed!”

This follows Trump’s executive order banning male athletes from competing in female sports at the high school and collegiate level a clear push to restore integrity and fairness in women’s athletics.

• AB Hernandez, despite being biologically male, competed and medaled in girls’ events.
