Trump Endorses Cuomo, Warns of Funding Cuts if ‘Communist Mamdani’ Wins NYC Mayoral Race

On the eve of New York City’s most consequential mayoral election in decades, President Donald Trump issued a sharp warning if Zohran Mamdani, the far-left, self-declared Democratic Socialist wins, the federal government will not be footing the bill for the disaster to come.

“If Communist Candidate Zohran Mamdani wins the Election for Mayor of New York City, it is highly unlikely that I will be contributing Federal Funds,” Trump wrote Monday on Truth Social. “As a Communist, this once great City has ZERO chance of success, or even survival!”

Trump didn't mince words, calling Mamdani a threat to the city’s future and throwing his unexpected support behind former Governor Andrew Cuomo, calling him the only viable option to stop a socialist collapse of the city.

“Whether you personally like Andrew Cuomo or not, you really have no choice,” Trump continued. “You must vote for him and hope he does a fantastic job. He is capable of it. Mamdani is not!”

Trump also took aim at Republican Curtis Sliwa, urging conservatives not to play spoiler:

“A vote for Curtis Sliwa (who looks much better without the beret!) is a vote for Mamdani.”

This isn’t about liking Cuomo it’s about stopping a Marxist from running America’s largest city into the ground.

Mamdani, a 33-year-old radical from Queens, has openly supported extremist causes, refuses to condemn the slogan “globalize the intifada,” and plans to allocate $100 million in taxpayer funds to defend illegal immigrants from deportation. He’s called for slashing the NYPD, hiking taxes, and installing Soviet-style rent controls.

In other words, Mamdani isn’t just “progressive” he’s an unapologetic ideologue who would turn New York into the next Portland or worse, Caracas.

Trump’s statement marks his latest effort to cut through the noise and unify opposition to the far-left. Whether you’re Republican, Independent, or a sane Democrat, his message is simple:

If Mamdani wins, New York loses and the nation may follow.

Andrew Cuomo, trying to distance himself from Trump’s support, claimed it wasn’t a true endorsement but a rejection of Mamdani:

“President Trump doesn’t support me. He opposes Mamdani... He believes he’ll bankrupt New York.”

Mamdani, meanwhile, lashed out, calling Cuomo “Trump’s puppet” and painting himself as the real enemy of “wealthy men” like Elon Musk and Donald Trump both of whom urged voters this week to back Cuomo as the only serious firewall against socialism.

But that’s exactly the point. When people who normally disagree Trump, Musk, even longtime liberal donors are all sounding the alarm, you know the threat is real.

New Yorkers have a clear choice:

• A radical who wants to defund police, support terrorists, and dismantle the economy;

• A Republican spoiler who can’t win;

• Or a Democrat Cuomo, who, for all his flaws, isn’t trying to destroy the city.

The stakes couldn’t be higher. Over 735,000 early votes have already been cast a historic number. If Mamdani wins, Trump says federal support will be reduced to the legal minimum. No bailouts. No handouts. New Yorkers will reap what they sow.
