Trump Taps Elon Musk for ‘Secretary of Cost-Cutting’ in Potential Administration

During a recent interview on Fox News, former President Donald Trump revealed that, if re-elected, he plans to appoint billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk as his administration’s "Secretary of Cost-Cutting." Trump made the announcement during his appearance on Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo, where he discussed his strategy to slash government waste and streamline federal agencies.

When asked which agencies he would target for elimination, Trump redirected the question with a surprising proposal: “Let me have Elon Musk answer that,” Trump said. “He’s a great business guy, and he’s dying to do this. He’s a cost-cutter, and he said he could cut costs without affecting anybody.”

• Trump praised Musk for his ability to run massive operations efficiently while emphasizing his innovative mindset. “You think of him for science and rockets,” Trump added, noting that Musk is constantly pushing the boundaries of technology and production down to developing new screws made of titanium for his projects.

• Although this would not be a formal cabinet position, Trump explained that Musk doesn’t want to be tied down to traditional government roles. Instead, Musk would lead a newly created position, focused solely on cutting unnecessary government spending. Trump emphasized that Musk’s approach would be about trimming fat without layoffs or negatively impacting federal employees.

Trump also teased that Musk has another ambitious goal in mind getting to Mars during Trump’s next term, well ahead of any potential efforts from China or Russia.

As the CEO of multiple companies, including SpaceX and Tesla, Musk has built a reputation for thinking outside the box and cutting through bureaucracy, making him an ideal choice for the role Trump envisions. This bold move speaks to Trump’s promise to bring private sector efficiency into government, aiming to reduce waste and streamline operations.

With Musk already leading efforts to revolutionize industries, his role in Trump’s administration would undoubtedly add a new dynamic to tackling bloated federal budgets.
