Trump to Slash Drug Prices With Historic Executive Order

New “Most Favored Nation” policy will crush Big Pharma monopolies and finally put Americans first.

President Donald Trump announced Sunday that he will sign what he called “one of the most consequential Executive Orders in our Country’s history” a bold, America-first move aimed at slashing prescription drug prices by as much as 80%.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump unveiled plans for a “Most Favored Nation” policy that will force pharmaceutical companies to charge Americans no more than what they charge citizens in the cheapest country worldwide. That means no more price gouging by Big Pharma and no more America-last pricing schemes.

“Our Country will finally be treated fairly, and our citizens’ Healthcare Costs will be reduced by numbers never even thought of before,” Trump declared. “The United States will save TRILLIONS OF DOLLARS.”

This policy isn’t just talk. According to a 2024 report by the Rand Corporation, drug prices in the U.S. are nearly three times higher than the global average and for brand-name drugs, the markup explodes to over four times the international rate. That’s billions drained from American families every year.

With this executive order:

  • U.S. drug prices will be tied to the lowest price in the world, not the most inflated.

  • Americans could see drug cost reductions of 30% to 80% almost immediately.

  • The U.S. will begin saving trillions of dollars, money that can be reinvested into care, innovation, and infrastructure.

But Trump isn’t stopping there. He also vowed to hit pharmaceutical imports with major tariffs, forcing companies to bring their production back home a move that will rebuild the American pharmaceutical industry and secure the supply chain from global disruptions.

“We’re going to tariff our pharmaceuticals,” Trump said. “And once we do that, they’re going to come rushing back into our country because we’re the big market.”

And he’s right. America makes up nearly half the global pharmaceutical market. It’s long past time we used that leverage to benefit our own people not Europe’s socialist healthcare systems or bloated foreign regulators.

This is the kind of decisive action Americans hoped for during the failed Biden years when drug prices only climbed and Big Pharma raked in record profits while Americans rationed insulin.

Trump’s executive order is a shot across the bow to the pharmaceutical lobby, the globalist elites, and the career politicians who’ve protected their racket for decades. It’s proof that when you put America first, everyone benefits except the corrupt middlemen who’ve been bleeding this country dry.
