Trump DOJ Weighs Gun Ban for Trans-Identifying Individuals After School Shooting

Justice Department considers targeting transgender mental health concerns as violence against children escalates.

In a bold and controversial move, President Trump’s Department of Justice is reportedly exploring legal pathways to prevent trans-identifying individuals from obtaining firearms, citing growing concerns over mental health instability and a disturbing pattern of school-targeted violence.

According to DOJ sources, the conversations follow last week’s horrific mass shooting at Annunciation Catholic Church in Minneapolis, where Robin Westman, a trans-identifying shooter, murdered two children and injured several others. The incident mirrors the 2023 Christian school shooting in Nashville, where another trans-identifying individual targeted innocent children—raising serious questions about ideological radicalization and mental health within this community.

“This Department of Justice is actively considering a range of options to prevent mentally unstable individuals from committing acts of violence, especially at schools,” said a DOJ spokesperson.

At the heart of the DOJ’s deliberations is the classification of gender dysphoria as a mental disorder, as defined in the DSM-5. The Trump administration's stance is clear: individuals battling unresolved psychological distress particularly those undergoing hormone therapy or radical identity changes should be closely scrutinized before being allowed to purchase firearms.

This discussion isn’t happening in a vacuum. It comes at a time when:

  • Two of the most high-profile school shootings in recent years were committed by trans-identifying individuals targeting religious institutions.

  • Democrat-led states like Minnesota have doubled down on legislation shielding trans-identifying individuals from scrutiny, even declaring themselves “trans refuges.”

  • Calls from Catholic and Christian schools for increased security have gone unanswered while governors like Tim Walz focus on expanding “gender-affirming care.”

President Trump’s DOJ appears to be taking a drastically different approach one that focuses on root causes rather than gun control platitudes. As Attorney General Pam Bondi leads the charge, sources inside the department say that “common-sense measures” aimed at protecting children are being prioritized over political correctness.

“Democrats have called for common sense gun laws for a long time,” a DOJ source noted. “This seems pretty common sense to me.”

The left, predictably, is losing its mind. The same activists who demand red flag laws, universal background checks, and mental health screenings for gun ownership are suddenly outraged when the scrutiny falls on one of their sacred identity groups. Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey decried any criticism as “hate,” completely ignoring the real victims: the dead children lying in church pews.

Meanwhile, counterterrorism advisor Sebastian Gorka laid it out in blunt terms during an appearance on CNN:

“It’s not about the sexual proclivities of the individual,” he said. “It’s the fact that nobody seems to notice a very disturbing pattern toward violence.”

And he’s right. When a 17-year-old gets a court-approved name change for gender identity, and just a few years later is massacring children at a religious service, something has gone terribly wrong and it isn’t the gun.

The DOJ’s possible action would be the first federal-level restriction on gun purchases based on gender dysphoria a move certain to spark legal challenges from the Left. But supporters say it’s a long-overdue response to a very real and growing threat ideologically driven violence masked as identity politics.

As the Biden administration continues to shield and celebrate trans ideology, even in the face of rising domestic violence linked to it, Trump’s DOJ is once again showing what real leadership looks like focusing on who is actually pulling the trigger, not just what weapon they used.
