Trump Seeks $230 Million in Damages From DOJ Over Witch Hunt Investigations

President says he was “very greatly” damaged and pledges to donate any payout to charity.

President Donald Trump confirmed this week that he is pursuing hundreds of millions in damages from the Department of Justice, holding them accountable for years of politically motivated investigations and he’s making it clear: he doesn’t want the money for himself.

Speaking to reporters from the Oval Office, Trump explained that his legal team is seeking damages from the DOJ for its abuse of power during multiple investigations that were launched to discredit him politically. According to reports, the legal filings could total up to $230 million.

“All I know is that they would owe me a lot of money, but I’m not looking for money. I’d give it to charity or something,” Trump said, signaling once again that this fight isn’t about profit it’s about principle.

The complaints trace back to the infamous FBI witch hunts during and after the 2016 election, when the bureau relied on false and fabricated evidence to pursue baseless claims that Trump’s campaign colluded with Russia. Those investigations were later exposed as politically driven, culminating in the Mueller Report, which found zero evidence of Russian collusion.

Since then, Trump has faced an endless stream of lawfare, including:

  • An FBI raid on Mar-a-Lago over alleged mishandling of classified documents

  • A multi-year special counsel probe into his 2016 campaign

  • Dozens of politically charged indictments, launched just in time for the 2024 election cycle

And yet, through all of it, the president has stood tall and now he’s going on offense.

“I was damaged very greatly,” Trump said. “Any money that I would get, I would give to charity.”

He also referenced successful settlements with CBS ($16 million) and ABC ($15 million) over defamation and false reporting, stating: “They paid me a lot of money because what they did was wrong.”

But the DOJ case is more complex and more serious. Unlike lawsuits against media outlets, the Department of Justice is part of the very government Trump now leads, making any settlement a tricky matter of internal ethics and executive oversight. As he put it:

“Did you ever have one of those cases where you have to decide how much you’re paying yourself in damages?”

Regardless of whether the DOJ ultimately pays, the message is clear: Trump isn’t letting this go. The weaponization of government against political opponents must be addressed, and accountability financial or otherwise is long overdue.

This isn't about one man. It's about restoring integrity to the system. For eight years, Democrats and the Deep State used the DOJ as a political weapon, deploying intelligence agencies to harass, investigate, and indict a sitting president and now a leading candidate in 2024.

Even now, DOJ officials with ties to Biden’s former administration are in charge of reviewing the damage claims. Among them is Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, one of only two people authorized to approve such settlements. The conflict of interest couldn’t be clearer.

Trump’s bold move to seek restitution isn’t just about personal vindication it’s about exposing corruption and holding the swamp accountable.

And in typical Trump fashion, he doesn’t want a dime for himself.
