Trump Defends Netanyahu, Blasts Israeli Courts Over ‘Witch Hunt’

Former president calls Netanyahu case political persecution that threatens critical Middle East peace talks.

President Donald Trump is once again speaking out against what he calls the “political witch hunt” against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, slamming the Israeli courts for pursuing charges that could derail peace negotiations and threaten regional stability.

Taking to Truth Social, Trump didn’t hold back: “It is terrible what they are doing in Israel to Bibi Netanyahu,” he wrote. “He is a War Hero, and a Prime Minister who did a fabulous job working with the United States to bring Great Success in getting rid of the dangerous Nuclear threat in Iran.”

Trump emphasized Netanyahu’s central role in current high-stakes negotiations with both Iran and Hamas talks that could be undermined by forcing the Israeli leader to sit in courtrooms over what Trump described as “NOTHING (Cigars, Bugs Bunny Doll, etc).”

Trump’s key points:

  • He condemned the Israeli prosecution as “insanity” and a direct parallel to his own legal battles in the U.S., calling both cases politically motivated.

  • He warned that Netanyahu’s legal entanglements could derail crucial hostage negotiations with Hamas and ongoing efforts to contain Iran’s nuclear ambitions.

  • He reminded Americans that the U.S. spends “billions” annually to support Israel, arguing that American taxpayers should not stand by while Netanyahu is persecuted during wartime.

“This travesty of ‘Justice’ will interfere with both Iran and Hamas negotiations,” Trump wrote, adding, “We just had a Great Victory with Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu at the helm. And this greatly tarnishes our Victory. LET BIBI GO, HE’S GOT A BIG JOB TO DO!”

Netanyahu has faced years of investigation and court battles over relatively minor allegations involving gifts and personal favors probes that critics say are being weaponized by his political opponents. With Israel on the front lines of both a potential war with Iran and an ongoing conflict with Hamas, the timing of these courtroom distractions could not be worse.

Trump’s blunt call to action underscores his belief that leadership in times of crisis cannot be hamstrung by politically driven prosecutions whether in Jerusalem or Washington.
