Pam Bondi Says Trump’s DC Crime Crackdown Will Benefit Latino Community
Pam Bondi says Trump’s bold move to clean up the capital will benefit all Americans tired of lawlessness.

Attorney General Pam Bondi is making it clear: President Donald Trump isn’t sitting back while crime spirals out of control in the nation’s capital. In an exclusive interview with Fox Noticias on Wednesday, Bondi said Trump’s decision to federalize the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) is a direct response to growing lawlessness and Latino residents will be among the biggest beneficiaries.
“I don't have to tell you about the violent crime we’re seeing every day,” Bondi said. “Staffers are shot walking out. Drive-bys are happening in the nation’s capital. And no more it’s going to stop.”
Trump’s move comes after a string of violent incidents, including the 100th homicide of the year, which occurred just hours before the announcement. The president's federalization of MPD places the department under the supervision of federal agencies, in an unprecedented step to restore safety and order to America’s front yard.
This isn’t about politics it’s about protection.
Bondi emphasized that over 10% of D.C.'s population is Latino, and they’re among those suffering most from rampant crime and deteriorating city conditions. “President Trump wants to make Washington D.C., our nation’s capital, safe for all of us for Latinos, for all of us who live here,” she said.
This is a dramatic change in tone and action from the previous administration, where soft-on-crime policies and defunded policing led to skyrocketing violence. In fact:
In 2023, D.C. saw a 35% increase in homicides over the previous year.
Carjackings doubled in less than 24 months, with many committed in broad daylight.
D.C. now ranks among the top 10 most dangerous cities in America per capita.
And while leftist activists claim D.C. crime is at a "30-year low," that narrative was torpedoed when one MPD commander was suspended in May for allegedly falsifying crime data. Attorney General Bondi revealed that U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro is investigating the scandal, warning: “You can't deflate statistics because people need to know, people need to be safe.”
Pirro, never one to hold back, was blunt: “You tell the kid who was just beat the hell and back with a severe concussion and a broken nose, ‘Crime is down.’ No, that falls on deaf ears, and my ears are deaf to that.”
The crackdown isn’t just about lowering crime it’s about restoring pride and dignity to the capital. Bondi said Trump wants to make D.C. “clean” and “beautiful again,” lamenting the state of public buildings and institutions under Democrat neglect.
“All of these buildings are in disarray,” she said. “We want families to be able to come here and go to our museums… Go to the Smithsonian, go to the National Gallery, go to the zoo.”
Unsurprisingly, the left is melting down. Politico accused Trump of “casting the city as dangerous,” and Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker disgracefully compared the president’s action to Nazi Germany a talking point so unhinged it reveals just how out of touch the Democrat Party has become.
This isn’t about optics. This is about American lives, including the lives of Latino families who live, work, and worship in D.C. neighborhoods abandoned by Democrat leadership.
President Trump isn’t trying to “cast” the city as dangerous. It already is. And now, someone is finally doing something about it.
