Mike Waltz Previews Trump’s Bold Executive Orders on Day One
Incoming president targets border security, energy independence, and DEI reforms.
President-elect Donald Trump’s national security adviser, Mike Waltz, revealed key executive orders Trump plans to sign immediately after his swearing-in on Monday. Speaking on CBS News’ Meet The Press, Waltz outlined a decisive agenda aimed at fulfilling Trump’s campaign promises, with a focus on border security, energy independence, and restoring meritocracy in federal institutions.
“We’re going to have his campaign promises right out there on the table,” Waltz said. “In terms of border, in terms of energy, in terms of taking on this kind of DEI, woke culture that has infected so many parts of our federal government, including our military, returning us to a meritocracy.”
Trump’s incoming administration seeks to reverse the Biden-era emphasis on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives, which critics argue have undermined merit-based systems, particularly in the military and federal workforce.
Waltz emphasized the urgent need to address border security, an issue Trump championed throughout his campaign.
“The American people gave him a clear mandate: lock down our border, deport the worst of the worst, take on the cartels,” Waltz stated.
He described Mexican drug cartels as “paramilitary organizations” with billions in resources, armed with heavy weapons, armored vehicles, and other military-grade equipment. These cartels are not just fighting local police but are engaged in battles with the Mexican army itself, controlling vast areas of territory near the U.S. border.
“We cannot have a situation where we have paramilitary gangs controlling 30 percent of our neighbor Mexico and controlling whole swathes of our border,” Waltz warned.
Trump’s executive orders are expected to focus on:
Border security: Strengthening the border and deporting criminal illegal aliens.
Energy independence: Reversing policies that stifled domestic energy production, ensuring the U.S. can remain self-sufficient.
Government reform: Rolling back DEI programs and restoring a merit-based system across federal agencies.
Waltz stressed that Trump’s priority is removing dangerous illegal aliens and returning them to their countries of origin, a step critical to ensuring American safety.
With a clear mandate from voters, Trump is poised to make immediate and impactful changes. Waltz’s comments offer a preview of the strong, decisive leadership Americans can expect as Trump begins his second term.
