Trump Condemns Biden’s Pardon of Hunter as ‘Miscarriage of Justice’

Sweeping pardon fuels accusations of corruption and hypocrisy from the White House.

President-elect Donald Trump sharply criticized President Joe Biden for issuing a sweeping pardon to his son, Hunter Biden, over the weekend. The controversial move has reignited allegations of corruption and hypocrisy, particularly given Biden’s repeated denials that he would grant such a pardon.

Trump took to social media to voice his outrage, writing, “Does the Pardon given by Joe to Hunter include the J-6 Hostages, who have now been imprisoned for years? Such an abuse and miscarriage of Justice!”

The pardon, covering an 11-year period, shields Hunter Biden from prosecution for any crimes he “may have committed or taken part in” during that time. This decision came just weeks before Hunter was expected to face sentencing for gun and tax-related crimes that carried the potential for prison time.

The White House had repeatedly denied that Biden would pardon his son, with Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre explicitly stating in November, “Our answer stands which is no.” Yet, the president’s actions tell a different story, with the pardon coming after Hunter was convicted in June of three felony counts for firearm offenses and pleaded guilty in September to multiple federal tax crimes.

Biden defended his decision, claiming Hunter was unfairly targeted because of their familial relationship. “No reasonable person who looks at the facts of Hunter’s cases can reach any other conclusion than Hunter was singled out only because he is my son and that is wrong,” Biden asserted.

A spokesperson for Trump condemned the pardon, framing it as part of a broader weaponization of the justice system under Democratic leadership. “The failed witch hunts against President Trump have proven that the Democrat-controlled DOJ and other radical prosecutors are guilty of weaponizing the justice system,” the statement read.

The spokesperson emphasized that Trump’s administration will prioritize restoring fairness and due process:

  • Ending political weaponization of the DOJ by holding corrupt officials accountable.

  • Ensuring equal justice under the law for all Americans, regardless of political or personal connections.

  • Implementing reforms to prevent future abuses of presidential pardon power.

“This system of justice must be fixed,” the statement continued, “which is exactly what President Trump will do as he returns to the White House with an overwhelming mandate from the American people.”

The pardon has drawn bipartisan criticism, with many Americans questioning whether the move was an abuse of power. Even some of Biden’s allies have distanced themselves, as public trust in the justice system continues to erode.

  • Hunter’s Gun Conviction: Jurors in Delaware found him guilty of lying on federal forms and possessing a firearm while being a drug addict a clear violation of the law.

  • Tax Evasion Charges: Hunter admitted to failing to pay federal taxes, which could have carried severe penalties in a court of law.

By issuing this pardon, Biden not only undermines the rule of law but also reinforces the perception that his administration operates with double standards one for the powerful and another for everyday Americans.

With the 2024 election approaching, Trump’s response underscores his commitment to reforming a justice system he argues has been hijacked for political gain. Meanwhile, Biden’s pardon threatens to deepen divisions within the country, leaving Americans to question whether justice can still prevail at the highest levels of government.
