Trump Demands Colombian President Shut Down Drug Trade
As fentanyl flows across U.S. borders, Trump vows to end taxpayer-funded aid to Colombia unless Petro acts swiftly.

President Donald Trump isn't playing games when it comes to stopping the deadly drug flow poisoning the United States. In a fiery early-morning post on Truth Social, Trump delivered a direct and unapologetic message to Colombian President Gustavo Petro: shut down your country’s drug production, or we’ll do it for you.
And he's not bluffing.
Trump made it crystal clear that the days of U.S. taxpayers footing the bill for corrupt, anti-American regimes are over. “President Gustavo Petro, of Colombia, is an illegal drug leader strongly encouraging the massive production of drugs,” Trump wrote, describing Colombia as a nation overrun by “killing fields” producing narcotics that are flooding American streets.
He didn’t stop there:
Trump announced an immediate end to all U.S. payments and subsidies to Colombia, calling them “a long term rip off of America.”
He blasted Petro as “a low-rated and very unpopular leader, with a fresh mouth toward America.”
He warned that if Petro refuses to act, “the United States will close them up for him, and it won’t be done nicely.”
This comes just a day after Trump celebrated the destruction of a drug-smuggling submarine carrying lethal narcotics including fentanyl toward the U.S. coastline. The former president revealed that U.S. forces successfully intercepted the vessel, killing two of the four narcoterrorists aboard and preventing what could have been another devastating fentanyl massacre. The other two captured suspects, from Colombia and Ecuador, are being sent back for prosecution.
This is the kind of leadership Americans remember and desperately need again.
While Biden and the Democrats continue to offer weak words and open borders, President Trump is taking action that protects American lives. Every year, over 70,000 Americans die from synthetic opioid overdoses, the vast majority linked to fentanyl trafficked through routes stemming from South America and Mexico. Despite billions in aid, Colombia continues to be the world’s largest cocaine producer, and Petro’s radical left-wing government has failed to make any meaningful progress in curbing the trade.
The American people are tired of paying foreign governments to look the other way. President Trump’s America First approach makes one thing absolutely clear: our national security is not negotiable.
