Trump Secures China Trade Truce with Focus on Opening Chinese Markets
President calls breakthrough in Geneva the “most exciting” step yet in reversing decades of one-sided globalism.

After 100 days into his second term, President Donald Trump continues to do what Washington elites have long failed to deliver results. His latest victory a major trade agreement with China brings a temporary halt to the tariff war and sets the stage for something far more consequential opening up China’s long-guarded markets to American business.
“Many years ago, we opened up the USA. Now it’s time for China to open up, and that’s part of our deal,” Trump told Sean Hannity Tuesday night. “To me, that’s the most exciting part.”
The announcement came after a weekend of negotiations between U.S. and Chinese officials in Geneva, where both sides finalized the framework for a 90-day cooling-off period. Tariffs announced on April 2 will now be reduced by 24 percentage points, while maintaining a 10% baseline a smart move to keep pressure on Beijing while easing tensions in global markets.
For Trump, this is more than just another win on paper. It’s about turning the page on decades of globalist trade policies that sold out American workers in favor of Chinese dominance. For years, the U.S. has operated at a structural disadvantage, opening its markets wide while China blocked, manipulated, and exploited.
Trump is determined to reverse that.
Key elements of the new U.S.-China trade framework:
Tariff reduction during a 90-day reset period
Expanded access for U.S. companies into Chinese markets
Commitments to fairer trade terms and greater transparency
Ongoing talks to further slash the U.S. trade deficit
While legacy media and establishment economists have long cowered before the idea of standing up to Beijing, Trump has never blinked. Under his leadership, U.S. markets are stabilizing, job creation is rising, and America is reclaiming its leverage.
The trade deal with China follows a successful agreement with the U.K., and Trump made it clear that more deals are on the horizon.
“Virtually everybody wants to make a deal,” he said. “We’re getting things done.”
Unlike the Biden era of bowing to foreign powers and climate-based trade entanglements, Trump is focused on American prosperity first making smart, bold deals that work for us.
In the same interview, Trump addressed criticism over accepting a donated 747 jumbo jet from Qatar’s royal family to serve as a temporary Air Force One after Boeing delays. Predictably, Democrats cried foul. Trump, however, made it plain:
“We’re giving to everybody else. Why wouldn’t I accept the gift?” he asked. “We give too many gifts, to be honest with you. This helps us out.”
Whether it’s trade with China, restoring border security, or reining in bureaucratic waste, Trump is once again proving why America runs better with a businessman at the helm not a career politician.
