Trump Warns Canada of Higher Tariffs After Trudeau Strikes Back
Trade war escalates as Trump holds firm on protecting American interests.

President Donald Trump is making it clear that America will not back down in the escalating trade war with Canada. After Prime Minister Justin Trudeau retaliated against Trump’s 25% tariffs by slapping similar tariffs on U.S. goods, Trump responded with a stern warning: hit America, and the tariffs will go even higher.
“Please explain to Governor Trudeau, of Canada, that when he puts on a Retaliatory Tariff on the U.S., our Reciprocal Tariff will immediately increase by a like amount!” Trump posted on Truth Social, signaling that the U.S. will not tolerate economic threats from its neighbors.
Trudeau announced a 25% tariff on $30 billion worth of American goods, with an additional $125 billion set to be targeted by the end of the month.
He accused Trump of harming American workers and raising consumer costs, while conveniently ignoring Canada’s own dependence on U.S. trade.
In a bizarre rant, Trudeau suggested Trump’s real goal was to collapse Canada’s economy in order to annex it an absurd and desperate claim.
The White House justified the tariffs by pointing to Canada’s failure to help curb cartel activity and drug trafficking into the U.S. “Both nations’ failure to arrest traffickers, seize drugs, or coordinate with U.S. law enforcement constitutes an unusual and extraordinary threat to America’s security,” the statement read.
These tariffs aren’t just about trade they’re about national security and holding foreign leaders accountable. Trudeau’s approach has been weak, and instead of addressing real issues, he’s choosing to play the victim. Meanwhile, Trump is standing up for American workers and businesses, making it clear that if Canada wants a trade war, they’ll get one and they won’t win.
