Trump Slams Biden for Selling Border Wall Parts as ‘Almost a Criminal Act’

The Biden administration quietly auctions border wall materials for pennies, costing taxpayers millions.

President-elect Donald Trump is calling out the Biden administration for its reckless decision to auction off parts of the border wall, a move he described as “almost a criminal act” during a recent press conference. Trump made clear that he intends to take immediate legal action, including seeking a restraining order, to stop what he sees as deliberate sabotage ahead of his return to the White House.

Trump’s statement follows a shocking investigation revealing that the Biden administration is selling border wall materials at public auctions, recovering mere pennies on the dollar compared to their original cost. Republican Senator Eric Schmitt of Missouri estimates taxpayers are recouping only 0.2% of what was originally spent.

Trump minced no words, accusing the administration of knowingly undermining the nation’s border security efforts:

  • “The administration is trying to sell it for five cents on the dollar knowing that we’re getting ready to put it up,” Trump stated.

  • “It’s going to cost double what it did years ago to replace these materials, and that’s hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars.”

The president-elect emphasized that this fire sale of border wall components is not only costly but suspiciously timed. Some buyers are already purchasing materials for as low as three cents on the dollar, only to turn around and offer them back to the Trump administration at exorbitant prices.

Trump went further, framing the move as part of the administration’s broader effort to undermine his presidency before it even begins. “That has nothing to do with a smooth transition,” Trump said. “That has to do with people really trying to stop our nation.”

The fallout comes as the Biden administration faces continued criticism for its handling of the southern border. Under Biden, illegal crossings have surged to record highs. Data from U.S. Customs and Border Protection shows over 2.4 million border encounters in fiscal year 2023 alone an unprecedented figure fueled by weak enforcement policies and open-border rhetoric.

Republican Senator Eric Schmitt also weighed in, slamming the Biden administration’s actions as “sabotage.” In a letter to Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, Schmitt demanded an immediate halt to the auctions:

  • “While recouping less than 0.02% of taxpayer money … the Biden administration is sabotaging the incoming Trump administration.”

  • Schmitt emphasized the wall materials are “critical” to addressing the uncontrolled flow of illegal immigrants that has overwhelmed communities nationwide.

Trump, meanwhile, remains steadfast in his promise to restore order at the border. “We’re going to rebuild it no matter what it takes,” he vowed. But thanks to Biden’s auctions, the costs of doing so are set to skyrocket.

The Biden administration’s actions are not only fiscally irresponsible but emblematic of its broader failure to prioritize America’s security. Selling off critical border infrastructure while millions pour across the border is a slap in the face to hardworking Americans who expect and deserve leadership that protects the nation.

It’s clear that Biden’s open-border agenda will not stand under Trump’s leadership. The president-elect has made border security a cornerstone of his campaign, pledging to complete the wall and finally put an end to the chaos enabled by Democratic leadership.

Americans deserve to know where their money is going and why their security is being sold for scrap. As Trump prepares to take action, the Biden administration should heed his call: stop the auctions now.
