Judge Blocks Trump’s Attempt To Stop Illegal Immigrant Driver’s Licenses In New York

A federal judge has officially sided with the radical Left ruling that illegal immigrants in New York can legally obtain driver’s licenses, despite objections from the Trump administration and growing public concern over the erosion of U.S. sovereignty.

U.S. District Judge Anne M. Nardacci, appointed by Joe Biden, dismissed the Trump administration’s legal challenge to New York’s so-called “Green Light Law”, a policy that enables non-citizens to use foreign passports and international IDs to obtain legal driving privileges in the state.

In other words, New York is now handing out state-issued IDs to people who are in the country illegally a move that not only undermines immigration enforcement but also blurs the line between citizen and non-citizen in a dangerously deliberate way.

The lawsuit, launched by Attorney General Pam Bondi earlier this year, argued that the Green Light Law is a blatant overreach that interferes with federal immigration authority and effectively shields lawbreakers. But Judge Nardacci rejected that argument, claiming the Trump administration failed to show that the law conflicted with federal power.

Unsurprisingly, New York Attorney General Letitia James the same activist who’s made it her mission to attack Trump at every turn celebrated the ruling, calling it a win for “safety.”

“Our laws protect the rights of all New Yorkers,” James said. “I will always stand up for New Yorkers and the rule of law.”

But let’s call it what it really is a win for illegal immigration, and a slap in the face to law-abiding Americans.

Here’s what the Green Light Law does:

• Allows illegal aliens to use foreign documents to apply for a driver’s license.

• Keeps ICE and federal immigration officials from accessing DMV data to locate or track illegals.

• Treats illegal immigrants the same as U.S. citizens when it comes to driving privileges no questions asked.

Even worse, when the first Trump administration tried to push back by barring New Yorkers from enrolling in trusted traveler programs like Global Entry, then-Governor Andrew Cuomo doubled down. He refused to allow immigration officials access to DMV records of illegals who received licenses, while offering federal agents only limited access to driving records in other contexts.

After a brief standoff, New Yorkers regained access to those programs but the dangerous precedent was set. States like New York are actively obstructing federal immigration enforcement while rewarding lawbreaking with government-issued identification.

And this judge just rubber-stamped it.

Let’s not forget what driver’s licenses really mean. They’re not just for driving they’re often used to:

• Register to vote

• Board domestic flights

• Access government benefits

• Open bank accounts

By giving illegal immigrants access to state IDs, Democrat-run states are opening the door to even greater fraud and abuse, including non-citizen voting and expanded access to taxpayer-funded services.

And the American people? They’re fed up.

Polls consistently show that a majority of Americans oppose giving driver’s licenses to illegal immigrants. A 2023 Rasmussen poll found 68% of voters disapprove of the policy. Yet the Biden administration and Democrat judges continue to side with illegal aliens over American citizens.

This ruling is one more example of what happens when activist judges prioritize woke ideology over the Constitution. The Trump administration’s fight to restore order and enforce immigration law is far from over and rulings like this one only highlight the importance of returning strong leadership to the White House.
