Trump Slams Gavin Newsom for Mismanaging Resources as California Burns
Former president calls out Newsom’s failures amid devastating wildfires.
As wildfires rage across Los Angeles County, President-elect Donald Trump is holding California Governor Gavin Newsom accountable for his catastrophic mismanagement of the state’s resources. Trump slammed the California Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom on Wednesday, arguing that his failure to manage water resources has exacerbated the fires now devastating the region.
Trump, who has long criticized California’s environmental policies, didn’t hold back in his social media statement:
Newsom refused to sign a water restoration declaration that would have allowed millions of gallons of excess water to flow into critical areas, including the regions now engulfed in flames.
Instead, he prioritized protecting a small fish called the smelt a decision that, as Trump pointed out, failed to help the fish and left Californians suffering.
Trump vowed that under his leadership, he "will demand that this incompetent governor allow beautiful, clean, fresh water to FLOW INTO CALIFORNIA!”
Trump went further, saying Newsom’s mismanagement means "no water for fire hydrants, no firefighting planes, a true disaster!"
The Palisades Fire, the largest of the blazes, has already devoured more than 3,000 acres within hours, while the Eaton Fire, Hurst Fire, and Woodley Fire continue spreading across L.A. County.
Over 80,000 people have been forced to evacuate as fire crews struggle to contain the rapidly growing infernos.
More than 1,000 structures have been destroyed, with another 15,000 at risk if the fires continue their aggressive spread.
Over 300,000 residents lost power by Wednesday morning as officials braced for worsening conditions.
California’s environmental policies have made wildfires worse, with years of neglected forest management, water misallocation, and excessive regulations crippling the state’s ability to handle these disasters.
Despite repeated warnings, Newsom and his Democrat allies refuse to properly clear dry brush and dead trees, which fuel the fires.
Strict water-use policies have limited firefighting capabilities, leaving emergency crews struggling to combat the flames.
The state's obsession with climate change rhetoric has taken priority over real, common-sense wildfire prevention strategies.
Wildfires are a tragic reality in California, but their severity has been made worse by Democrat leadership that prioritizes environmental extremism over public safety. Instead of using available resources to protect communities, Newsom’s policies have left Californians vulnerable to devastation year after year.
With Trump set to return to the White House, expect real leadership that will finally put Californians ahead of radical environmental agendas.
