Trump Secures Breakthrough Ceasefire Deal Between Russia and Ukraine

With Biden gone and peace prioritized, Trump brokers first major Black Sea truce and energy strike ban since war began.

President Donald Trump has secured two groundbreaking agreements between Russia and Ukraine, establishing a ceasefire over the Black Sea and a mutual ban on strikes targeting energy infrastructure.

This marks the most significant diplomatic progress in the war since Russia invaded Ukraine over three years ago something the Biden administration failed to achieve in nearly his entire presidency.

According to a White House statement, the United States will enforce the deal, which includes:

  • Guaranteed safe navigation in the Black Sea, eliminating the use of force in the region.

  • A ban on attacks on energy facilities, ensuring the stability of vital infrastructure for millions.

  • A commitment by both nations to prevent the use of commercial vessels for military purposes.

This is the kind of deal only Trump could make strong, enforceable, and built on American leverage. And it’s no coincidence that both sides agreed after President Trump personally spoke with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin last week.

The agreements were finalized during U.S.-mediated talks in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and come with a significant shift in U.S. posture: Washington, not Brussels or the UN, will lead in ensuring compliance.

Ukrainian President Zelensky admitted that enforcement would rely on Trump. “If the Russians violate this, then I have a direct question for President Trump… we ask for sanctions, we ask for weapons,” he said.

Even Russia acknowledged that only the Trump administration has the muscle and clarity to keep both sides in line. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated that “guarantees can only be the result of an order from Washington.”

Under the terms of the agreement, Trump’s White House has also pledged to help Russia regain access to global agricultural markets, a move seen as part of a broader strategy to incentivize de-escalation through economic diplomacy.

Let’s be clear: this isn’t total peace yet but it’s the first meaningful move toward it in over three years. The Biden administration, bogged down in appeasement and virtue signaling, failed to stop the bloodshed or move either side toward the negotiating table. Trump did it in less than a year.

Last month, Trump and Vice President JD Vance didn’t mince words with Zelensky during a high-profile Oval Office meeting. Trump told him bluntly “You’re gambling with the lives of millions… You’re gambling with World War III.”

That tough-love diplomacy has now paid off.

President Trump isn’t just focused on ending war he’s focused on ending pointless wars that waste American tax dollars and endanger global security. This latest move is a testament to what real leadership looks like.
