Trump Declares Antifa a Terrorist Organization
President targets radical left in wake of Charlie Kirk’s assassination and growing political violence.

President Donald Trump officially designated Antifa as a major terrorist organization on Wednesday, making good on his long-standing warning to crack down on left-wing extremism after years of unchecked violence, riots, and assaults on conservatives across the country.
The move comes just days after the assassination of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, which Trump has publicly linked to radical leftist rhetoric and political hatred that has been allowed to fester under past administrations.
“I am pleased to inform our many U.S.A. Patriots that I am designating ANTIFA, A SICK, DANGEROUS, RADICAL LEFT DISASTER, AS A MAJOR TERRORIST ORGANIZATION,” Trump posted on Truth Social.
“I will also be strongly recommending that those funding ANTIFA be thoroughly investigated in accordance with the highest legal standards and practices.”
This marks one of the strongest domestic anti-terror measures taken by any president in recent history and it sends a loud, clear message: the era of violent leftist impunity is over.
For years, Antifa has operated as a loosely organized but highly coordinated movement responsible for:
Attacking police and federal buildings in cities like Portland and Seattle
Organizing riots and property destruction during the 2020 BLM protests
Physically assaulting conservatives, Christians, and Trump supporters with little legal consequence
Despite their open calls for violence, Antifa has been protected if not outright enabled by the Democratic Party, liberal prosecutors, and a complicit media that refuses to acknowledge the group's extremist nature.
President Trump has had enough.
“For years, those on the radical left have compared wonderful Americans like Charlie [Kirk] to Nazis and the world’s worst mass murderers and criminals,” Trump said in a video statement this week.
“This kind of rhetoric is directly responsible for the kind of terrorism that we are seeing in our country today, and it must stop right now.”
Antifa’s designation as a terror group may trigger federal surveillance, financial scrutiny, and criminal penalties for members and those providing material support. It also opens the door for the Justice Department to investigate the funding pipelines behind the group many of which may lead back to well-known progressive donors and tax-exempt nonprofits.
According to federal data, over $2 billion in damages were caused during the 2020 riots, much of it associated with groups linked to Antifa and their allies. Meanwhile, assaults on conservatives have steadily risen, with over 500 reported incidents since 2022 alone involving physical threats or violence against Republican lawmakers, activists, and faith-based organizations.
And while Democrats have been quick to throw around words like "insurrection" and "domestic terrorism" when targeting conservatives, they’ve remained completely silent on the escalating violence coming from their own side.
Now, under Trump’s leadership, that double standard is being dismantled.
Antifa has thrived on political cowardice, weak leadership, and a weaponized justice system that turns a blind eye when the victims wear MAGA hats or hold Bibles. With this designation, Trump has drawn a bold line in the sand and it’s one Americans have been waiting for.
