Venezuelan Illegal and Suspected Gang Member Arrested for Brutal New Mexico Murder

Another horrific crime tied to Joe Biden’s open border crisis is shaking the nation and this time, it involves a brutal murder, a Venezuelan gang member, and a body stuffed into a suitcase in the desert.

On January 8, federal agents arrested Yorvis Michel Carrascal Campo, a Venezuelan illegal immigrant and suspected member of the violent Tren de Aragua (TdA) cartel, in Colorado Springs, months after he allegedly helped strangle a man to death in New Mexico, bury the body, and cover up the murder.

According to the Department of Homeland Security and a Department of Justice indictment, Carrascal Campo was one of 11 individuals charged in connection to the killing, which took place in June 2024 during one of the worst surges in illegal crossings under the Biden administration.

“Carrascal Campo’s crimes shock the conscience,” said DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin. “Yet another example of the failed border policies of Joe Biden that RELEASED TdA gang members into American communities.”

Campo illegally crossed the southern border in October 2023 and was issued a final deportation order in June 2024 just days before the murder occurred.

Here’s what we know:

• Carrascal Campo and several other TdA members allegedly kidnapped, interrogated, and strangled the victim, questioning his loyalty and supposed ties to rival gangs.

• After killing him, they reportedly stuffed the body into a suitcase and buried it in a remote area near Albuquerque.

• Campo also allegedly helped clean up the murder scene and supplied ketamine to TdA operatives to help manufacture “tusi,” also known as pink cocaine.

This is not just another isolated incident. According to DHS, at least five Tren de Aragua gang members named in the indictment were released into the United States under Biden’s border policies. TdA, originally founded in Venezuela’s prisons, has now become one of the most dangerous transnational criminal organizations spreading across Latin America and now into our cities and neighborhoods.

And it’s not just murder.

Just last week, two other suspected Tren de Aragua members reportedly weaponized a vehicle against Border Patrol in Portland further proof that Biden’s open border has unleashed violent criminals onto American streets, endangering law enforcement and civilians alike.

• More than 8 million illegal crossings have occurred under Biden’s watch since 2021.

• Border Patrol has arrested hundreds of known gang members, including MS-13 and TdA operatives.

• ICE has repeatedly been blocked from enforcing deportation orders by leftist sanctuary policies and political interference from the White House.

The Biden administration continues to turn a blind eye to the very real consequences of its lawless immigration agenda a policy that enables murderers, traffickers, and cartel members to roam freely across the United States.

“We are working around the clock to clean up the chaos caused by the Biden administration,” DHS said, “who let untold millions of illegal aliens including murderers, pedophiles, rapists, terrorists, and gang members pour into our country.”

There’s a reason Americans overwhelmingly support Trump’s pledge to restore law and order at the border, deport violent criminals, and end the national security nightmare that Biden unleashed.

Every new arrest like this is a chilling reminder of what happens when politicians put politics before public safety and put American lives at risk in the process.
