SNL Sketch Sparks Controversy as Tom Hanks Plays ‘Racist Trump Supporter’

The Hollywood star’s skit mocked Trump voters, reinforcing tired leftist stereotypes.

Hollywood’s disdain for middle America was on full display during Saturday Night Live’s 50th-anniversary special, where Tom Hanks reprised his role as “Doug,” a Trump supporter in a skit that many saw as a blatant attack on conservatives.

Wearing a red Make America Great Again hat, Hanks played into the left’s favorite stereotype portraying a Trump voter as an out-of-touch, church-going simpleton. The moment that drew the most outrage came when Hanks recoiled at shaking hands with Kenan Thompson’s character, a move many saw as an attempt to paint Trump supporters as racist.

SNL has a long history of ridiculing conservatives, but Saturday’s special took it even further:

  • A sketch mocked Trump directly, implying he was a dictator in a Les Miserables-style parody.

  • Steve Martin and Martin Short joked about ICE raids, making light of serious immigration issues.

  • Weekend Update’s Colin Jost sneered that this could be SNL’s “final season” if Trump wins again.

The underlying message was clear: Trump supporters are bad, and if you vote for him, you should be mocked.

Tom Hanks has built his career playing the “everyman” character, yet his real-life contempt for actual everyday Americans has become more apparent over the years. From attacking Trump supporters to pushing progressive Hollywood narratives, Hanks has abandoned any pretense of respecting the millions of hardworking Americans who don’t share his elite, leftist worldview.

The backlash to the skit on social media was swift, with many calling out SNL and Hanks for their predictable and tired political grandstanding. While Hollywood elites continue to insult half the country, they still don’t understand why everyday Americans have tuned them out.

Tom Hanks and SNL may think they’re making a statement, but all they’re doing is proving why Trump’s support keeps growing. The more they mock, the more people wake up.
