Court Indicts Actor Timothy Busfield on Child Sex Abuse Charges

Hollywood’s moral collapse continues as once-celebrated actor faces horrifying accusations involving twin boys.

Hollywood has a long, ugly history of shielding its own and now, another one of its darlings has been dragged into the spotlight. Actor and producer Timothy Busfield, known for his roles in The West Wing and Thirtysomething, has been indicted on four counts of criminal sexual contact of a child by a grand jury.

The details are stomach-turning. Busfield is accused of sexually assaulting twin boys beginning at just 7 years old, during his time working on the Fox series The Cleaning Lady, which ran from 2022 to 2025. Busfield served as a director and executive producer on the show positions of power that allegedly allowed him unfettered access to vulnerable child actors.

According to investigators:

  • The alleged abuse first came to light in November 2024, when a University of New Mexico Hospital doctor reported suspicions of grooming and molestation.

  • Charges weren’t filed initially, but in September 2025, one of the twins disclosed abuse directly to a physician, prompting authorities to reopen the case.

  • Busfield turned himself in last month, maintaining his innocence in a video recorded before his arrest.

His attorney, Stanton “Larry” Stein, dismissed the indictment with the now-infamous line that “a grand jury will indict a ham sandwich.” But the stakes here are far beyond legal quips. This isn’t about sandwich metaphors it’s about whether a Hollywood insider used his status to exploit children, and whether the system allowed it.

And here’s the kicker: this isn’t the first time Busfield has been accused of sexual assault. Allegations also emerged in 1994 and again in 2012 yet, no charges were ever filed. One has to wonder: how many warnings does the industry need?

This pattern of power, silence, and protection is nothing new in liberal Hollywood circles, where accountability is often sacrificed on the altar of celebrity. And let’s be honest if Busfield were a midwestern mechanic instead of a coastal elite actor, this case would’ve likely moved forward a lot sooner.

Even now, the media coverage seems carefully sanitized, while his wife, actress Melissa Gilbert (Little House on the Prairie), thanked supporters for their “love” during this “extraordinarily difficult time.” Difficult for whom?

The Bernalillo County DA says the case is expected to proceed to trial. We’ll see. But history suggests the entertainment elite always seem to find a way to slip through the cracks.

Hollywood has long lectured Middle America about morals, family, and values all while harboring the worst kinds of predators behind the scenes. This indictment is just the latest reminder of that brutal hypocrisy.
