CNN Verifies Tim Walz's False Claims About Drunk Driving Incident

The Minnesota Governor's Deception Adds Another Chapter to the Harris Campaign’s Ongoing Integrity Issues

In a stunning admission, CNN has confirmed that Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, who was Kamala Harris’ VP-pick, repeatedly lied about his 1995 drunk driving arrest during his congressional campaign. This revelation raises serious questions about the integrity of a key figure in the Democratic Party, further tainting the already shaky reputation of the Harris campaign.

On September 23, 1995, Walz was pulled over by a Nebraska trooper for speeding 96 mph in a 55 mph zone. According to court records, Walz failed both the field sobriety test and a blood-alcohol test, leading to his arrest and an overnight stay in jail. Despite later admitting to driving under the influence, Walz’s campaign spun an entirely different story while he was running for Congress.

The Walz campaign repeatedly claimed that the then-Democrat candidate had not been drinking and instead blamed his poor performance on the sobriety test on hearing loss, supposedly suffered during his time in the National Guard. Meredith Salsbery, his communications director at the time, even told local media that Walz’s hearing impairment prevented him from understanding the officer’s instructions during the sobriety test, which was why he allegedly failed.

However, CNN’s recent report debunks these claims, confirming that Walz’s version of events was entirely fabricated. The network explicitly stated, “None of that was true,” underscoring the severity of the deception. The lies were echoed across several media outlets, including local newspapers like the New Ulm Journal and the Post Bulletin, further spreading the misinformation to the public.

  • Fact 1: Walz was indeed driving at 96 mph in a 55 mph zone nearly double the legal limit.

  • Fact 2: Blood-alcohol content tests are scientifically designed to be highly accurate, and failing one is a clear indicator of intoxication.

  • Fact 3: Hearing loss does not impair one's ability to comprehend basic instructions like walking in a straight line, which is a standard part of a field sobriety test.

As the Harris campaign continues to push a narrative of Walz as an all-American dad with deep ties to the heartland, these lies cast a long shadow. Daily Wire Editor Emeritus Ben Shapiro highlighted this hypocrisy, noting how Walz’s arrest and subsequent deceit shatter the carefully curated image. He rightly points out that Walz isn’t the wholesome family man he pretends to be but rather a “wild progressive, a radical, and a liar,” who’s more in line with the extreme left’s agenda than middle America’s values.

This latest scandal is yet another example of how the Democratic Party’s leadership is riddled with dishonesty and manipulation. With the 2024 presidential election approaching, voters should take note of these repeated breaches of trust. After all, if they’re willing to lie about something as serious as a DUI arrest, what else are they hiding?
