Texas Shuts Down Islamic-Only EPIC City Project Near Dallas

Abbott and Trump DOJ team up to stop unconstitutional Muslim enclave enforcing sharia principles.

In a major win for constitutional law and American values, Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced Sunday that all construction of the controversial “EPIC City” a Muslim-exclusive development planned outside Dallas has been officially halted.

The master-planned community, centered around the East Plano Islamic Center, was expected to house thousands of Muslims and operate under Islamic principles, with elements of sharia law reportedly planned for everyday life, commerce, and education. That dystopian vision has now been stopped dead in its tracks.

“Texas has halted any construction of EPIC City,” Abbott said on X. “There is no construction taking place. The state of Texas has launched about a half dozen investigations into this project. That includes criminal investigations.”

Abbott also confirmed that the U.S. Department of Justice under President Trump is investigating the development as part of a broader federal response to potential religious discrimination and unconstitutional practices.

This isn’t about religion it’s about segregation and the erosion of American law. The idea of creating a community where housing, business, and daily life are governed by one religion’s rules and restricted to one religious group is antithetical to everything the Constitution protects.

Senator John Cornyn rightly sounded the alarm last month:

  • The project could discriminate against Jews, Christians, and other non-Muslims, violating their First and Fourteenth Amendment rights.

  • Exclusive religious-based housing policies appear to be central to the plan something clearly illegal under both Texas and federal law.

  • Islamic law being imposed in an American city is a blatant violation of the separation of church and state.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has launched a full-scale legal assault on the project, digging into communications between the East Plano Islamic Center and local governments in Plano, Richardson, and Wylie. His office is determined to expose any public official who may have aided this unconstitutional project.

“If any local official is supporting or communicating with a real estate development that is under investigation for potential violations of state law,” Paxton said, “then it’s imperative that we are made aware of exactly what’s being communicated.”

This isn’t the first time Texas has had to deal with rogue communities. Colony Ridge, outside Houston, is another sprawling development under federal investigation for housing waves of illegal immigrants and becoming a hotbed for crime. Just like EPIC City, it’s been enabled by weak local oversight and radical political agendas.

Let’s be crystal clear: No religious group, including Muslims, has the right to build a city within a city and sidestep the U.S. Constitution. The fact that EPIC City was even allowed to get this far is proof of how deeply entrenched this cultural rot has become.

Fortunately, under the leadership of Governor Abbott, AG Paxton, and a returning Trump administration, America is beginning to fight back. The days of ignoring religious segregation and borderless communities in the name of “diversity” are over.

If we want to preserve our freedoms, we must stand against those who try to undermine American law with foreign ideologies no matter how they’re packaged.
