New Bill Limiting Birthright Citizenship to Be Introduced by Texas Congressman
A bold push to end exploitation of immigration loopholes under Trump’s leadership.
In a decisive move to tackle the exploitation of immigration loopholes, Representative Brian Babin (R-TX) is preparing to introduce a bill aimed at ending birthright citizenship for children of illegal aliens and curbing the practice of “birth tourism.” The bill, backed by over 20 Republican cosponsors, underscores a key focus of the Trump administration: restoring law and order to America’s immigration system.
This proposed legislation builds on President Trump’s bold executive order challenging birthright citizenship, signed just hours after his second inauguration. Babin emphasized the sweeping impact of the bill, declaring, “It’s going to close loopholes that exploit birthright citizenship, discourage illegal immigration, and end the misuse of this completely misinterpreted privilege.”
If enacted, the law would:
Eliminate automatic citizenship for children of illegal aliens.
Prevent children of immigrants on temporary visas from gaining citizenship.
Halt “birth tourism,” a practice where wealthy foreigners travel to the U.S. to deliver babies who automatically become citizens.
The legislation has already sparked controversy, with the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and other groups promising legal challenges. Babin, however, sees this as an opportunity to bring the issue before the Supreme Court, stating, “We want the U.S. Supreme Court to rule on this and give us a final ruling because it has been misinterpreted for far too long.”
The legal process is expected to take years, but the bill’s supporters believe it’s a necessary step to address systemic abuse of immigration laws.
This legislative effort complements President Trump’s robust action on border security. Within hours of his inauguration, Trump signed several executive orders, including:
Declaring a national emergency at the southern border.
Reinstating the Remain in Mexico policy.
Designating drug cartels as foreign terrorist organizations.
These moves were lauded by Republicans, with Representative August Pflugler (R-TX), Chairman of the Republican Study Committee, praising Trump’s decisive actions: “Biden surrendered our border to chaos but President Trump is wasting no time taking it back.”
Pflugler added, “The American people demanded law and order, and this is exactly what we are delivering. From sealing the border to defending our communities, this is real leadership: promises made, promises kept.”
As Babin’s bill advances, it represents not only a legislative push but a broader recommitment to the principles of national sovereignty and accountability.
