Taliban Stages Military Parade, Highlights Biden-Harris Afghanistan Withdrawal

Billions in U.S. Military Equipment on Display as Taliban Celebrates American Weakness.

The world was starkly reminded of the Biden-Harris administration's catastrophic withdrawal from Afghanistan this week as the Taliban showcased billions of dollars worth of U.S. military hardware in a brazen parade. The parade took place near Bagram Air Base, once a symbol of American military power in the region, now a chilling testament to the current administration's failure.

In full view of the world, the Taliban paraded U.S. military vehicles, helicopters, and a staggering array of weaponry through the streets of Afghanistan. This public display not only embarrassed the United States but also served as a grim reminder of the chaos that unfolded during the hasty withdrawal in August 2021.

The Fallout of the Withdrawal:

  • A report from the Department of Defense Inspector General revealed that the Biden-Harris administration abandoned $7.12 billion worth of U.S.-funded equipment to the Taliban. This included nearly a billion dollars' worth of aircraft, over 40,000 military vehicles, more than 300,000 weapons, and tens of millions of dollars in ammunition.

  • Among the abandoned assets were advanced military electronics such as night vision and surveillance equipment and nearly all communication devices provided to Afghan forces.

  • The withdrawal not only cost America billions but also the lives of 13 U.S. service members, who were killed in a terrorist attack during evacuations at Kabul's airport.

The consequences of this botched operation have reverberated far beyond Afghanistan. The chaotic retreat projected a dangerous image of American weakness, emboldening adversaries around the globe. It is no coincidence that just six months later, Russian President Vladimir Putin felt confident enough to launch his brutal invasion of Ukraine.

To add insult to injury, the Biden administration has done little to address the growing threat posed by the reconstitution of Islamic terrorist groups in Afghanistan. These groups have been rapidly expanding since the U.S. withdrawal, posing a renewed threat to global security.

As the Taliban continues to wield U.S. military equipment as a trophy, it is clear that the Biden-Harris administration’s handling of the Afghanistan exit was not just a strategic blunder but a profound betrayal of American principles and military sacrifice.
