Taiwan Declares It Will Never Surrender to China
President Lai sends a clear message to Beijing and the world: Taiwan will fight for its freedom, no matter the cost.

Taiwan isn’t backing down.
In a bold and unmistakable declaration, Taiwanese President Lai Ching-te told the world that Taiwan will never surrender to China no matter what propaganda or threats come its way. The statement, made during a week of high-stakes defense events, reaffirms the island nation’s unwavering resolve to defend itself against the growing menace from the Chinese Communist Party.
“Any claim that the government has surrendered or that the nation has been defeated is false,” Lai said. “We are determined to defend freedom and democracy and a sustainable Taiwan.”
That’s a message not just for Beijing, but for the Biden administration and every Western government still dancing around the issue of Chinese aggression. While our own leadership hesitates, Taiwan is preparing for the fight of its life and sending a clear signal that it won’t go down without one.
Here’s what’s happening in Taiwan right now:
The island just released a new civil defense handbook, arming citizens with critical information to survive a potential Chinese military invasion.
Taiwan hosted its largest-ever arms show, drawing major international defense companies eager to partner with the island’s expanding military programs.
U.S.-based Shield AI signed a deal with Taiwan’s government defense contractor, signaling deeper cooperation and likely future weapons sales including battlefield-proven V-BAT drones, used effectively in Ukraine.
This isn’t just political posturing. It’s a nation gearing up for war because it has to.
China, under Xi Jinping’s totalitarian regime, continues to ramp up its military intimidation of Taiwan, including near-daily incursions into Taiwanese airspace and waters. And despite its claims of seeking “peaceful reunification,” Beijing has never ruled out the use of force to seize the island.
Meanwhile, President Biden has been sending mixed signals flip-flopping between vague commitments and toothless diplomacy. His administration has done little to project strength, and under his watch, China has only grown bolder.
Let’s not forget:
Taiwan's defense budget has surged to over $19 billion, up more than 13% from last year.
The majority of Taiwanese citizens support independence and reject unification with China, regardless of threats.
China has built the world’s largest navy and continues to militarize the South China Sea while challenging U.S. dominance in the Indo-Pacific.
What Taiwan needs is what America once offered the free world unshakable support, real deterrence, and clear leadership.
Taiwan’s President Lai is doing what our current leaders should be speaking truth to tyranny and standing firm on the front lines of freedom. Taiwan isn’t just defending its sovereignty it’s holding the line for every democratic nation watching nervously from the sidelines.
It's time the West matched Taiwan’s courage with action before it's too late.
